NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

I know he CAN be a solid QB in the NFL.....but there is a HUGE difference in what he will be paid being the 8th overall pick and say something like the 20th. And truth be told, we have signed ...4 QB, death match...let them sort that out. We have a couple of pressing needs.

Salsa,
Will the Raiders eventually choose the BEST QB in camp to lead them in the season, or go with the Bosses favorite ?

Realistically, 3/4 of the AFC West should be pretty happy with 7 wins. I'll be disappointed if the Chiefs aren't at least 8-8. Will be easier to figure out once the schedule is out (2-3 game stretches away from home to open/close a season are lame) and could change my expectations for them.

In 2006 the Broncos drafted Cutler, Marshall, Scheffler and Dumerville. 3 are gone, and Dumerville is skipping out of voluntary workouts in a contract dispute (with $$ being the reason Brandon Marshall was moved). How do you see this as progress and Denver not slipping behind an improved Chiefs or surprising Raiders this season? Scheffler and Marshall had more yards and TDs than the rest of the receivers combined.

Dumerville IS NOT in a contract dispute, at all. He is working out with his father in Florida. He is currently another victim of the CBA dispute, along with many other players in the NFL.

Marshall wanted out of Denver (it was his and his cousins' fault that Darrent Williams was killed, and I think that weighed on him), and Denver did not want to pay the upfront guaranteed money that Marshall wanted, due to his risk. Next infraction, automatic 8 game suspension. We will miss those 10 TD's, 100 catches and 1000 yards, no doubt, but let's watch the draft, first, um-kay?

Scheffler was really a non-factor last year (31 catches, 416 yds, 2 TD), and he has been injured a lot. He is not a BLOCKING TE, like Josh wants. Tony was unhappy when his girlfriend Cutler got let go, and was a bad seed in the locker room. He would have been cut, and we got a high 5th(the Browns). Now he can see Cutler twice a year from the cellar. AND if he turns into a corner, he can still catch a few from Cutler each game!

So, in the end, all the crybabies are gone, and we should be a better TEAM for it.

You should really stop your "analysis" of the Broncos, because you don't know what you're talking about. Unless it's just to piss me off.....;)

McDaniels is building "his team" with the draft. We now have two more seconds and a fifth, and we got rid of 2 players that didn't want to be here. And those 2 - 2nds, while equaling a first, will not cost us as dearly.

Before you continue predicting what the AFC West is gonna be like, shouldn't you at least wait until after the draft, and then you can begin speculating?

The Broncos are sorely lacking a #1 WR now, Eddie Royal showed last year how invisible he can be, and are going to look like the Clevaland Browns this year... as 1 QB does bad people will clamor for the backup to be played, with Brady Quinn familiar with that argument. Broncos are also changing from their old successful zone blocking scheme to a more traditional running game, been a while since I read that though. The Broncos are going to be bad-to-mediocre this year as their defense gets another year older, and McDaniels will be fired, with a legacy of dumping 2 of the better players the franchise has had on it's roster since Elway left.

Now...on to this garbage....

Cleveland Browns?????

We have Gaffney, who showed what he could do when Marshall was benched. Eddie Royal, a second coming of Wes Welker. A solid Brandon Stokely - remember the Cincy game? Brandon Lloyd and Kenny McKinley. PLUS there is talk of Dez Bryant, and/or some other WR's in the draft.

The Broncos are switching from the ZBS to a Power Blocking scheme which requires different personnel up front. As well, as switching to the 3-4, which was the first year, last year. Remember, this is no longer Mike Shanahans team.

McDaniels will not be fired, even if this team has a losing record. Bowlen will give him the chance to succeed.

Denver is rebuilding from a downtrodden Shanahan defense, and a discordant locker room. McDaniels is rebuilding this team in his own image, which is his right. That aging defense was brought in to help win now.

The players that were traded did not want to be here. And they all had their own, individual issues. It might take awhile to get McDaniels system in place, but once it happens, your Chiefs are going to continue to be the ones fighting for last place with the Raiders. :p

And PFT has got to be one of the worst sources of information. They constantly speculate and seemingly make things up. But, I can see why you like them.

LOL, Dumervil not in a contract dispute but is a victim of the CBA, that's some nice spin there. He has yet to sign his RFA offer... I'm sure it's because he just loves life or something and hasn't gotten around to it?

Jabar Gaffney your new number 1? With 3800 yards in 10 years? A figure Brandon Marshall has eclipsed in less than 4?

Eddie Royal the second coming of Wes Welker? With 400 yards last season? Welker had more yards last year than Eddie Royal has had in his two year career.

Dez Bryant the answer to all of Denver's woes? Really? Your team couldn't handle/pay Brandon Marshall and you're going to take on the biggest diva in this draft who seems to have a tendency to outright lie when the he thinks the truth would hurt him more? What is he, 12?

If anything, McDaniels won't get fired just so Bowlen won't have to pay him to not coach, with moves like Marshall's motivated by $$.

They will choose the one the OWNER spent the most money on....:(

IF Gradkowski was healthy....I would take him in a heartbeat. He has what the other don't...leadership and moxy! That goes alot longer than skill and arm strength because let's be real here....at THIS level of football, just about everyone has skills.

...GOD in heaven I HATE this phrase, but unfortunately...."it is what it is....":(

Rams have sent Adam Carriker to the Redskins. Compensation was swapping picks in the 5th round (Redskins moved down 28 spots).

Schedules starting to leak from everywhere now... Steelers have a 3-game away stretch late in the season, and also play a game on MNF against the Saints that will probably conflict with the World Series. Cowboys playing Saints on Thanksgiving. That stuff should be confirmed in an hour or two when it is officially released.
