NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

I was a little worried when I heard they might get McNabb, now I know that pick will be top 10 and most likely top 5.

Yeah, McNabb would have made it a 15ish pick probably.

Division is weak though, it wouldn't take much for them to get a mediocre pick next year. The Chargers could slide a bit after losing a few players they felt they didn't need, and the Broncos and Chiefs are still very much a work in progress. As much as work as the other three teams need, the Raiders probably need that much combined.

ALL bias aside...remember, I am a HUGE Shanahan hater....and I wanna see just how good a coach he is with a mediocre to bad team....but when it comes to experience, I would say Shanahan. The ONLY difference between Snyder and Davis is age....PERIOD. They are the exact same guy. BUT when Davis was Snyder's age....Davis was 10 times better a football man than Snyder will EVER be.

I don't think that Snyder is technically a Football guy at all.

The EAGLE fans got what they wanted.... I am still skeptical that because Kolb had 2 300 yard games will lead them to the Super Bowl.

...but I could be wrong....

Gotta take a chance sometimes.

The Packers made the move and they seem to be moving in the right direction, Aaron Rodgers is turning out to be a very good QB.

Gradkowski only looks good because he's on the same team as Jamarcus Russell. If he was a good QB this wouldn't be his 4th team.

At least he's the best QB on the roster. His rehab has gone well for partially torn MCLs in both knees, hard to imagine having that kind of damage to both legs and then feeling really good about coming back.

The real shame is this year the Raiders are going to watch Clausen and McCoy go right by them in the draft as they continue to pin hopes and dreams on Jamarcus's gut. I'd say arm, but he's better at eating than football, so gut it is!

Maybe in the 2nd round they'll surprise us all and take Tebow if he's still available, I don't think he will though.

They could take a QB first next year.... but they gave up that 1st for Richard Seymour.

I wouldn't get too excited. Gradkowski couldn't cut it as a 3rd stringer on the Browns for chrissakes!

Name me a good team he's been on that he's had a chance to play with ????

It all comes down to where you end up and how good is the player.

I would put him ahead of Matt Cassel ... and Cassell has gotten a chance.

Gradkowski had WAY more playing time in college, but Cassell fell into the right position for himself (although you wouldn't think it ahead of time) when Brady got hurt he came in and was playing for a GREAT team, now he looks like a stud with only 7-8 games of playing time in college, if that.

Gradkowski has to make his own positive situation as he's not with the glamor team.

On that team he'd be ahead of Cassel, yeah, because they don't have the offensive line to protect a QB so they'd need his mobility. I kinda see Gradkowski as a mediocre Jeff Garcia type QB, but he never had a real threat to throw the ball to to make his name. Cassel has had the bar set pretty high, he can in in relief of Brady and threw to a receiver core that is possibly one of the best we'll see in our generation.

Cassel will have the better year though, Weis designed the offense that Brady and Cassel ran in New England, but left before he got to actually work with him. I'd take Cassel/Chambers/Bowe over whatever lineup the Raiders end up with, and that trio will probably be 2nd in the division only to Brees/Jackson/Floyd.

As for Gradkowski, his success relies less on his abilities, but how badly the Raiders mess everything else up. If the receivers are going to drop the ball, and if he's not going to get any protection (this is all when they finally give up on Jarmarcus this year.... whether it's week 1 quarter 3 or week 9, who knows) then he just doesn't have much of a chance, and hopefully he celebrates his 29th birthday the season after next on a better team.

Exactly! Because you know what....he WON 2 out of 3 starts before he got hurt. WITH a crappy, banged up offensive line and a ton of very little experienced WR.

Look at all the glamor boys the Browns had a QB. You were DROOLING over Anderson when he won 9 and 10 games for you. You thought Brady Quinn was GOD when you got him and was clamoring at the bit for the "Quinn era". And YOUR team did there usual MO...not give the guy a chance. NOW, they are gonna bring in a retread with a ton of concussions and an old body.

At this point RIGHT NOW, Gradkowski is a better than any QB that you have.;)

Jimbo's a Stooler fan. I'm the Browns fan. And no, Gradkowski and J-Marc aren't better than what we have.

There is no way in the world Gradkoski is a better quarterback than Cassel, sorry. So the guy didn't play in college, who cares, maybe that is Pete Carroll's problem not Cassel's. Looking at it now, maybe USC should of played him instead of Leinhart.

Your opinion. The Raiders gave him a chance to PROVE he could win AND he DID....your franchise didn't. He did....with a team he didn't even know. That says ALOT about HIM as a leader and the Browns as a franchise.

Put him(Cassell) on the Raiders offense and tell me what kind of numbers he will put up.

How does someone even respond to that? That's like saying "put Phelps in a bucket of Tabasco sauce with no goggles and his arm and leg tied together and lets see how fast he can swim".

Al Davis would rather have Cassel, last season he threw 30+ yards down the field almost 70 times, Gradkowski playing just under half a season only attempted 12 at that distance. That's not Al Davis football, what's the point of all the fast guys if they have to stop and come back to their QB who's running for their life.

Jamarcus Russel btw... only 3 attempts of 30+ yards in 10 games last year.

Sorry Salsa, but I'm A Steeler's fan.
We have / had a top notch QB already.
That said, it could be time to see what Dixon can do ......

Sorry, Darryl Lamonica days are long gone, except Al doesn't realize it.

How does someone reply to YOUR post when your facts are skewed? Gradkowski started only 3 games, playing in 7 total. So he DIDN'T even play the equivalent of HALF a season. Cassel started 15 games, OF COURSE he was going to have THAT MANY more throws than Gradkoswki.....

493 attempts to 150 attempts.....yep, their stats are fair enough to compare. INFACT, Cassel ALONE had more attempts than the ENTIRE Raider QB staff.

That takes care of YOUR post.

Like I said, I want to see how Cassel or ANY other QB that had good stats in the ENTIRE NFL play behind THAT line and throw to THOSE recievers. The stats were NOT gonna be pretty.

And THAT was my complete response to his. THAT is all.;)
