NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Truth be told...is there really a different between the two teams....seriously...?

I got to thinking about that after I had posted.

For McNabb, it means he doesn't have to move the family all that far.

I think given the choice, and I don't know if this went into it at all, but if you were changing teams and you could play for Tom Cable or Mike Shanahan ......
Al Davis or Dan Snyder ?
Which way are you leaning ?

ALL bias aside...remember, I am a HUGE Shanahan hater....and I wanna see just how good a coach he is with a mediocre to bad team....but when it comes to experience, I would say Shanahan. The ONLY difference between Snyder and Davis is age....PERIOD. They are the exact same guy. BUT when Davis was Snyder's age....Davis was 10 times better a football man than Snyder will EVER be.

I don't know what to think about this. I mean McNabb is better than what they have but how long will he play.

Let's just put it this way: McNabb (33) is a year older than Tom Brady (32) and a year younger than Peyton Manning (34).

If the Skins can extend his 1-year contract, it makes sense for them to give up what they did.

BTW, what the hell was Philly thinking in trading away their franchise QB and face of their team to an inner division rival?! You NEVER do that!

In reading some articles, it sounds as Mcnabb was not going to report or talking about "retirement" if he was traded to Buffalo or Oakland, sounds like he forced Eagles hand. I am guessing with one year left one the deal as well the Eagles did not want to deal with a player this season that appears they had no intent on extending his contract

The Raider deal was a better deal. The Eagles were gonna get Nnamdi AND a #2 from the Raiders. IN turn, they did MORE for Donovan and LESS for the team.

...and as you stated, to a DIVISION RIVAL.....this will comeback to bite them in the ass.

I think this deal CHANGES the draft ALOT. Of the top 10 picks, you would HAVE TO say that 4-7 of those teams have some medium to serious QB issues and could be looking to trade-up or draft a QB 1st.

Players seem to feel the same way:

Eagles safety Quintin Mikell lamented McNabb's departure, but said he had seen the writing on the wall.

"If he had to go, I guess I'm glad it's not to a team like the Raiders or Rams," said Mikell, one of just three players remaining from the 2004 squad that lost to New England in the Super Bowl, along with David Akers and Delaware State product Jamaal Jackson.

"At least he's going to be with a team that's got a good coach and a good organization. They have a chance to win and actually protect Donovan."

McNabb trade a shocker

The EAGLE fans got what they wanted.... I am still skeptical that because Kolb had 2 300 yard games will lead them to the Super Bowl.

...but I could be wrong....

But that is on a PERSONAL point of view....NOT on the team's perspective. You have to do what is best for the TEAM, not for the player, when it comes to trades and drafts.
Right, and that's why I posted a personal point of view. Jimbo was asking what a player's perspective would be, and I found one which is most likely shared by many others.

Oh, I have no issues with that. I mean, IF you ask ANY player...they would more or less say the same. But Andy Reid put A player before THE team.

When the going got tough.....

Gradkowski did not vomit. Gradkowski led by example.

Fear not, Raider fans. Bruce Gradkowski is only 27 with plenty of upside. He has the respect of his teammates and a core of young receivers.

Great line and I agree. I am now OVER this McNabb thing!

Gradkowski only looks good because he's on the same team as Jamarcus Russell. If he was a good QB this wouldn't be his 4th team.

At least he's the best QB on the roster. His rehab has gone well for partially torn MCLs in both knees, hard to imagine having that kind of damage to both legs and then feeling really good about coming back.

The real shame is this year the Raiders are going to watch Clausen and McCoy go right by them in the draft as they continue to pin hopes and dreams on Jamarcus's gut. I'd say arm, but he's better at eating than football, so gut it is!

Maybe in the 2nd round they'll surprise us all and take Tebow if he's still available, I don't think he will though.

They could take a QB first next year.... but they gave up that 1st for Richard Seymour.

Real nice job by the Skins handling the trade:

What current (soon-to-be-former?) Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell now knows is that his team didn't think enough of him to let him know when they dropped the hammer on the Donovan McNabb trade. Campbell, who's been Washington's primary quarterback since 2007, found out about the trade when he got a phone call from John Keim of the Washington Examiner just after the deal was consummated.

Campbell found out about McNabb trade from reporter

I was going to write out a few ideas that would make the Raiders good again, but really it would take too much to do all at once. The organization is rotten at it's core, Jamarcus is a metaphor for the effectiveness of the aging formerly great Al Davis, the guy knows what a football is and (in theory) which direction to throw it, and that translates pretty well for how Davis is running the franchise. Until both are remedied (which would only be the beginning of the healing process) effective fixing of this franchise can't happen without a tremendous amount of dumb luck.
