This was supposed to happen yesterday (at least parts of it) and then it was pushed to today and now the whole thing is TBD.
Apparently it's believed to be over a SNAFU with the new NY stadium. The Jets and Giants were disagreeing over who should play the first game in the new stadium, and that it would be decided by a coin flip or something.
Well then the league did the coin flip, and the Giants won.
With neither the Giants or Jets present.
The Jets called shenanigans and as a compromise it's believed that they'll both have a home game opening weekend now.
Changing one game sends ripples through the rest of the schedule, so things have to be reworked.
Edit: Peter King says the schedule stuff has been pushed back at least a week.
This has already been settled. The Giants will play on Sunday and the Jets get the Monday night game. I was listening to NFL Radio on XM and they were saying that there were several stadium conflicts with teams (other events scheduled for the same day) that needed to be worked out. Since they may have to change some of the primetime games, because of this, they decided to hold off on the announcement and will just announce the full schedule in mid-April. So we won't be getting any schedule announcements prior to this.
?????????
I'm confused ....
This stadium was built for Football, the two PRO teams first and foremost and they have to MOVE other items out of scheduled events to accommodate the NFL teams ?
Wouldn't you think that the NFL schedule or potential of dates would be left open till everything is settled ?
Who's the person that booked something for the stadium on a Sunday/Monday ALREADY ?
Here's a good idea. Goodell considering having the final 2 weeks of the season be predominantly/only divisional games.
They may be meaningless, but Browns-Bengals, Chargers-Raiders, Packers-Vikings etc would still get the teams/players/fans riled up and want to compete.
Also after publicly campaigning to be the featured team for the forthcoming Hard Knocks season, the Texans think the decision has been made already and that the Jets will be the focus of the show this season.
Supposedly an offer on the table for McNabb to go to St. Louis for the 33rd pick in the draft.
Not a bad place to go for an aging QB, finish his days in a dome, he likely won't get traded if he can't get a contract extension worked out though.
More injuries result from those meaningless preseason games, but they won't reduce those for obviou$ reason$...Yeah, but for those you have 15 other games that helped determine your fate. In the playoffs you just have the prior 60 minutes.
I agree though, any rules for the playoffs should apply to every game. There are just concerns about increased playing time resulting in more injuries.

I could be wrong, but I think he was referring to other teams who had stadium conflicts, not the Giants/Jets. I think there is an extremely good chance the new stadium is available each and every potential football date.

and if this gets done, Bradford will drop...
IMO they'll reduce them to 2 games I think within the next -5 years when the schedule is expanded to 18 games and we see more international games and maybe even the addition of another team or two. I expect they'll adjust cutdown days and numbers and expand maximum roster sizes to quell some fears of injuries hobbling teams.
I hope it's sooner than that. I hate paying FULL PRICE for 2 exhibition games every year. ANd you can't sell'em, no one wants them.
