The Eagles have fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo.

About time!!I questioned Reid's sanity when he named a offensive line coach with no defensive experience as the DC.Bowles should definitely do better and,he has plenty of talent to work with.

The o-line stinks mainly because they are playing with 3rd string players at LT and C.Mudd isn't the issue, they need to try and make a trade for C or LT.Otherwise the O-line is doomed.

They need to fire the OL coach as well. That line is swiss cheese AT BEST...

Actually, the guy that they just fired, WAS the O Line coach for many years, then they moved him to the D side of things for some reason.

They should have moved him back to the O line and hired a real D Co.

As Teehar posted just above my post .... Sorry Teehar.

No problem Jimbo.

Hopefully they will right the ship,Bowles should be able to get something out of a very talented defense.Castillo was overwhelmed at times and it cost them several games. Now if they can just find someway to improve the dreadful O-line they have a shot. The one positive is that they made the move during the bye and Reid is 13-0 coming off a bye.

I love Pat Patriot. My favorite uniform as a kid was the white Jerseys with red pants.

I would like to see them at some point wear 1996 throwbacks.

Mine was the late 70's version: white jersey and white pants. Was never a fan when they went to the red pants

Better stat to determine a team's offensive effectiveness- points scored or yards gained?

In 2010, San Diego was the #1 offense in terms of yards gained, but New England scored the most points.

It's all about the points, nothing else matters.

I'd like to see a stat that keeps track of first downs in the fourth quarter, when the team leading is ahead by one score. I can't think of a more important stat.

I know what you mean, 30 first downs don't mean anything if you can't get 1 when it matters, to close out a game.

I think 3rd down conversions would be a Big one .... % wise.

Absolutely, if you can keep your offense on the field and get the opponents off the field on 3rd down. Your chance to win the game greatly increases.

Currently Big Ben and the Steelers are at 73% making the 1st down when Ben passes on 3rd down.

That's all cool stuff but, again what good is converting a first down on 3rd down if they don't score?I agree that it is a very key component to increasing a teams odds of scoring but,it doesn't always = points on the board. So to me the most important statistic is points scored.

Time of Possession, or keeping the ball away from the other team's offense...
