......And may the odds be ever in your favor.
Hmmm. Fan of the hunger games are we? :)

Time to start fearing the Bills

I remember this game very well. The Pats lost this game 39-35, and the following week at home to he Bills 38-35, to start the year 0-2. They were 3-6 after losing to the Browns in Week 9, and then won their final seven games to make the playoffs, thanks to DC Al Groh and his shovel.

Can you explain what that means? Al Groh and his shovel?

I vaguely remember that game but people were high on Bledsoe. Too bad, he never really was that superstar, you know?

Groh brought a shovel he found in his garage, to the sidelines in the second half of 1994 as a motivational tool (sort of a let's dig ourselves out of the hole we created metaphor). And it worked as the Pats won their last seven games to finish 10-6 and make the playoffs

I disagree. Bledsoe isn't a HOF like Tom Brady, but he certainly was a "superstar". IMO, if it wasn't for Drew and Robert Kraft (ad to a lesser extent Bill Parcells), the Pats would be playing in St. Louis today.

Groh should've done that with the Jets in 2000. True, the Pats may have moved w/o those 3 but he really only had one shot at the Super Bowl, which was 31. You wonder if he didnt get hurt, if Bledsoe would have been an elite qb. I mean if he leads the Pats to the Super Bowl, hes probably an elite qb. Now even though Bledsoe was a good qb, he always be somewhat forgotten. Its going to be about Brady for the time being.

Bill, here's something interesting I found out:

Remember the 1996 Jaguar team that upset the Broncos at Denver and went to Foxboro for the AFC Championship Game?

Well, I found out something interesting.

Denver, if they had beaten the Jags, would have hosted the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game on January 12, 1997. The weather in Denver that New England would have seen on that day- in a word, wow:

http://www.farmersalmanac.com/weather-history/80204/1997/01/12/

High Temp: -2.2F
Low Temp: -5.8F
Average Temp: -4F
Dewpoint: -10.1F
Wind Speed: 5.1 Knots
Precipitation Amount: n/a
Snow Depth: n/a
Observations: Fog, Snow/Ice Pellets

Considering Green Bay hosted the NFC Championship game that day and that Denver logistically could not host the early game- imagine the AFC title game with a 4:00 start in this weather!

Something much worse almost happened in January 2005. Massachusetts was in the middle of one of the worst blizzards we'd seen in decades (over 3 feet of snow), and the Pats were playing the Steelers in Pittsburgh in the AFCCG. But the previous week, the Jets nearly upset the Steelers, as their playoff game went to sudden death OT.

If the Jets won that game, the Pats would have hosted them in the AFCCG. League and state officials later confirmed that the AFCCG could not have been played in Foxboro that night (1-23-05 at 6:30pm), and probably would have to be played on Monday or Tuesday.

Bledsoe did lead them to a Super Bowl in 1996. Also, people forget Brady got hurt in the 2001 AFCCG in Pittsburgh and Bledsoe came in and led the Pats to victory (although Troy Brown and the special teams was THE story).

I haven't anticipated a season this much since 2007. There's only one fly in the ointment........we're not playing at Gillette tonight! :(

I know I am so pumped(and jacked) for Sunday at 1pm.

I'll flip NBC on at 8:35 and skip all the banner raising crap so I can keep my dinner down.
