Police responded to Queen of the Valley Hospital on Aug. 6 when Hanson arrived to receive treatment for an injured jaw.

“(The hospital) is required to report those things to the police department any time someone comes in the victim of an assault-type crime,” McGovern said. “We were dispatched to the hospital and ended up contacting the victim at that location. The victim said the assault had occurred the previous day at the Raiders’ training camp facility.

“Basically, he said he had been assaulted by a member of the staff but refused to identify who that person was. There isn’t anything we can do if the victim is uncooperative in providing us with any additional information as far as witnesses or suspect information.”

According to McGovern, the victim was in the process of receiving X-rays when he was interviewed. The results of those exams are not known. McGovern said misdemeanor assault charges could come if the victim comes forward with information that leads to an investigation. McGovern said a broken jaw could lead to felony charges. McGovern said that police have not followed up with the Raiders in search for more information.

Raiders senior executive John Herrera told the National Football Post on Sunday that head coach Tom Cable would address the situation with media following the team’s practice Sunday. Cable did not.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league was not aware of the alleged incident.

Some Raider drama between coaches could result in some charges... Al Davis must have a mean right hook Breaking: Raiders coach injured in altercation | National Football Post

That's a 1st. But how surprising that would come out of Raider camp.;)

As long as the injuries are to coaches and not players......who cares! LOL!;)

Whether it's true or not, I don't know. Until I either see a police report or Cable/Raiders have a presser stating the same....I am gonna treat it as a UFO.

EDIT: Why is this news coming out the OAKLAND RAIDERS camp? LOL!! I mean really.....

The news is spreading fast....

and....

Raiders Already In Mid-Season Form - Oakland Raiders - Deadspin

Word out of Raiders training camp is that first-year head coach Tom Cable recently punched an assistant coach, fracturing his jaw and putting Oakland at least a month ahead of schedule for its annual meltdown.
Multiple NFL and Raiders sources have confirmed the victim of the alleged assault was Hanson, a third-year assistant who is in his first season with the team under the title "assistant coach-defense." Two NFL sources have told FanHouse the attacker was Raiders' first-year head coach Tom Cable, and "that Hanson never saw it coming."
Sounds like your boy threw a cheap shot....

The reason they're unidentified aside from obviously not wanting to lose their jobs (though I wonder if there's whistleblower protections there?), is as soon as someone is willing to say he's the one who did it, he can be charged. It's a big step to take, just have to wonder if anyone will take it. Cable has probably not talked about it after practices because admitting to it opens up criminal charges even if the victim doesn't press charges himself.

Unless you're the victim talking about it, nobody should be speaking out publicly if they're involved until any case has passed or solidified and charged. Big Ben for example was an idiot when he pulled his team aside and gave them 'his story' of this woman charging him with stuff... now every one of his teammates, including people who could be all bitter from not making the team, can be called as witnesses to recount what Ben told them that day.

Edit: Cable's post-practice comment, via PFT:

According to the Oakland Tribune's Jerry McDonald, Cable said, "It's an internal matter and that's all I'm going to say."

Cable repeated it two more times just in case reporters thought he might crack.

This is funny though:

Oakland's players, however, said it all with their actions before practice started. The team reportedly started chanting "Cable, Bumaye!" while in warmups.

The hilarious and impressive reference is to Muhammad Ali's fight with George Foreman in Zaire, where the pro-Ali crowd's chant can roughly be translated to "Kill him!"

and Florio wrapped it up with his usually legal insinuations

The team may be finding humor in the situation -- heck, it might become a rallying cry -- but Cable could face serious repercussions from the incident. The chant certainly won't dispel multiple reports that Cable broke Hanson's jaw.

One also has to wonder about Hanson's future with the team. He didn't hear the chant because he was the only Raiders coach absent from practice Monday.

When Hanson hears what happened, he might not enjoy the "Cable, Bumaye!" chant as much as we do.

Panthers down to the Giants. No injuries on our side. Good.

The Giants backup QB is David Carr. Holy s***! If Eli gets hurt they will be worse than the Lions. How this guy is still playing I have no idea. I just with the Panthers had put a bounty on him tonight. What a queer.

What a finish to the Panthers-Giants game. That would piss me off if it were a regular season game. Fortunately we were spared OT.

Zzzzz.... Broncos apologize to Marshall for P.R. faux pas | ProFootballTalk.com

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, Broncos COO Joe Ellis apologized to receiver Brandon Marshall due to the fact that a "junior member" of the team's P.R. staff was telling players on Friday "not to express too much joy or emotion" if asked by the media about Marshall's acquittal on battery charges, which occurred that same day.

Also now that his legal problems are behind him, he's resumed his quest to be traded.

In Raiders-land everyone is backpedaling on the 'Cable pwned a coach' story too.
