NFL 2009-10 Season

I actually look forward to this more than the draft. :up

I was checking New England's 2009 opponents, and one game that really caught my eye was their game in New Orleans.

That has "shootout" written all over it- hopefully, it gets a good TV slot, since I would love to see a great QB duel in Brees/Brady.

I think that game has Monday night written all over it.

Looks like someone doesn't want the Quinn experience.. Sanchez isn't going to be at the NFL draft, says he wants to stay in California and experience it with his family... but may change his mind. If he gets a bunch of private workout requests or something before the draft I bet he decides to show up.

IF the NFL says they want him there, figuring he'll be a top QB going , he'll be there.

I think I am pretty resgined to the fact that Stafford will be the top pick. Let the "Stafford" era begin!

History tells us this will be another a QB who's career will be over before it even starts. Detroit is where QB's come to die. Along with head coaches.

Very true, from the little of schwartz I do seem confident in his coaching abilities, just a feeling I guess. For some reason when you enter those doors in Allen Park something over takes you, not for the good

Eventually I have to be wrong about the Lions. The odds say so.:D

The Lions have made some good moves since the MILLEN ERROR ended. Two nice trades come to mind. (The Williams and Redding trades.) I believe they went in the right direction in picking a defensive coach, and we have a lot of early picks. BUT, we have a long history of making BAD draft picks. This pre-dates the MILLEN ERROR. Remember Lynn Boden? Neither do I. I could go on forever with a litany of bad choices this team has made just with QB's. The truth is that they will make the choice they make without my input, and so be it. All I can hope is that Stafford matures into a Pro-Bowl pick some day, and if he can stay off his back long enough, he may. He definitely has a NFL arm and NFL size, and I would call him a better prospect than any the Lion's have drafted in MY lifetime. We surely need a QB here, and I hope that Cullpepper plays well enough that we don't have to throw Stafford to the Lions (pun intended) before he is ready, as has been the case with every other QB we have drafted. A left tackle and defense would higher on my list of priorities, though. To be honest, I do think he is more of a NFL QB than the studs that will be available next season, all of which I view as products of their college "systems". (Bradford, Tebow, etc....)

Detroit needs to be careful with drafting their QB.

Last time they drafted an all-world college QB (Joey Harrington), it didn't work out so well.

I heard the guru's the other night talking that the Lions take Stafford, I thought a lineman next and Laurenitis at LB with the 1st second round pick.

They mentioned that the last time they had a stud LB, it was Spielman, he played about a 100 years ....
Personally, I loved Speilman, but think Sims is very good as well.

According to the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs have agreed to terms with veteran linebacker Zach Thomas.

94 tackles last year, interested to see what he can bring to the team, probably more leadership and lockerroom presence than ability.

Seems odd to bring in Vets after cutting Donnie Edwards :( Injuries probably the difference there.

It hasn't worked out with ANY QB they have drafted. The list is staggering. Try some of these names (this is just off the top of my head) Andre Ware, Chuck Long, Rodney Peete, Charlie Batch, Joey Harrington, Dan Orlovsky, Drew Stanton, etc... I'm sure somebody else will be along to fill in a few other names. This is kind of like a "Where are they now?" list.

You find 94 tackles last year ...lacking ability ?

One, I'm glad he's out of Dallas, the less quality people there, the better.
