NFL 2009-10 Season

Doesn't matter who's at fault. Just saying that giving a guy that's pretty banged up such a HUGE contract is a little irresponsible.

Well...to bring up staff infections when that is the responsibility of the organization to keep the locker room clean for it's players is unfair.

What, like the Browns did between Anderson and Quinn? LOL! Right....! One guy is the future, the other has 1 year left in the gas tank. IF the Raiders were one player away from being in the Super Bowl, then I would be be for it....but we ware FAR FROM THAT. JaMarcus is the best QB for the team....having him suddenly compete for a job already his is way beyond counter productive.

I agree, but also people are applying way too much football logic to... the RAIDERS. JaMarcus is the man there, now they have a backup, I doubt there will be much conversation about it, and Garcia is there to cash a check and do a little mentoring.

Didn't realize the Raiders have Gradkowski, I liked that big guy a lot too, wish he saw more success. Thing I read on PFT was that in Tampa Gradkowski gave up his number to Garcia. Guessing he might consider doing the same thing here all things being equal (dont even know what his number is) but he probably won't make the team with Garcia there.

i like this move. if anything it will be a positive thing for russel to have a QB like garcia next to him. i still remember how great it was for marino to have don strock next to him early in his career. very positive influence.

I know this is a stretch, but you just put Jamarcus Russell and Dan Marino in the same sentence ... are you sure you wanted to do that ?

Jimbo

no lol...:) what i was trying to say it would be a benefit for russell to have garcia at his side just like it was for marino having strock early in his career. jamarcus has a long long way to go for his name to be in the same sentence with a marino or other legendary qb's from the past.

What, suddenly there is NO CHANCE IN HELL that the Raiders franchise can have football logic? Look, their BAD past would be a good indication of what they might do.....but they have made some smart, logical moves recently without making too much of a stir.

They were talking about this on ESPN, and said this was an indictment of JaMarcus's slow development, and that he needs to find his confidence and start making throws that are accurate as they are powerful.

Certainly don't see anything wrong with the move, it's a good one. And if JaMarcus flounders they've got a journeyman they can turn to if they find themselves with a division title within their grasp to help lock things up.

Looks like TO has had a change of heart regarding those voluntary workouts:

Geez....it would improve your QBs confidence too IF HE HAD SOMEONE TO THROW TO! LOL! Need I remind you of the crap the JaMarcus was throwing to most of the season??!! He only had ONE decent reciever to throw to most of the year...TE, Zack Miller. As soon as the rest of the league got a wind of that, they actually started double covering him.....HIM....a guy that has not amounted to anything YET..!! THANK GOD that someone finally got through to the coaching staff and convinced them to let the young kids play and some POSSIBLE good receivers with speed is in our OWN HUDDLE.

And I LOVE when Greg Papa screams ...."touchdddddooooowwwwnnnn RRRRaaaaiiiiiiiiiiddddeeerrrrrrssssss.......!!!"

believe it or not he's one of the players i'm looking forward to watching this year in the NFL.He's got skills. His TD celebrations are hilarious and fun to watch too. Lets see what the raiders do in the draft.so far they've taken a few positive steps for the 09 season.

Tank Johnson Signs With Bengals

Why am I NOT surprised Tank ended up with the Bengals?

I'm not surprised either. this has been their tendency for awhile now. and even though tank behaved during the his time in Dallas you still can't help but wonder why the Bengals continue to sign players with a not so good history. they even let go of their own when in trouble just to sign them back

And then the next day CB Leon Hall was arrested for DUI. Not enough happening for the tiger to change it's stripes in Cincy.

i found it funny when chad mentioned last season that they were a better team when the players were getting into trouble.

Debut Of '09 NFL Schedule to Get Own TV Special

Both the NFL Network and ESPN will be airing live specials to coincide with the release of the 2009 NFL schedule. Not only that, but ESPN is planning a whole three hours around the thing....
When the National Football League announces its 2009 regular season schedule, ESPN’s SportsCenter Special: Schedule Release will review the entire slate of games Tuesday, April 14 (7-8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and continuing from 8-10 p.m. on ESPN).

The three-hour SportsCenter Special will examine individual team schedules, key match-ups, Monday Night Football games, national TV games and other schedule highlights.

Trey Wingo will host the SportsCenter Special with analysts Ron Jaworski, Trent Dilfer, Merril Hoge and Tim Hasselbeck. A number of NFL players, including DeMarcus Ware (Dallas Cowboys), Joey Porter (Miami Dolphins), Brian Dawkins (Denver Broncos) and Richard Seymour (New England Patriots), are also expected to participate in live interviews.

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually look forward to this more than the draft. :up
