NFL 2009-10 Season

And I get the "rust factor" arguement, I really do.

But, having lived through this just two years ago, "going for it" isn't what it's cracked up to be.

If Mike Carey blows his whistle or A$$ante makes that pick, you are singing a different tune.

The 2007 Patriots regular season was the most fun I ever had watching and going to the games. Gillette was so amazing that year, wouldn't change what they did during that regular season at all.

What should the Colts do next week, show up and forfeit? After all, they do have another regular season game left.

They basically forfeited this week.

And if the Bengals roll over next week, that will give two games to the Jets, which has major playoff implications that affect many teams.

How about not even showing up?? They might get in a fender-bender to or from the airport, Manning might sleep wrong in one of those hotel beds and get a stiff neck, etc. Come to think of it there are a lot of ways Colts players could get injured just by making the trip.... ;)

You'd trade that 16-0 for a win in the SB though, wouldn't you?

And I'm not saying that they couldn't have done both. All I'm saying is I'd PREFER another SB championship.

BTW, ROFLMAO at the A$$ante comment! :D

Couple of thoughts on yesterday's game:

1. This year's Miami Dolphins- the team that came out of nowhere to defy bleak preseason hopes- were the Cincinnati Bengals, who clinched the AFC North yesterday. What a great year for the Whodeys- Cedric Benson found peace and happiness, Ochocinco is stepping up (caught the winning TD), and the defense has been very good more often than not. This is a team that will be dangerous in the playoffs- they have a Super Bowl-caliber D and enough playmakers to light up the scoreboard.

2. Dallas and Washington's game last night showed me how much of a contrast these teams take to win. While the Redskins broke the bank to sign Albert Haynesworth, Dallas went after a quality defensive player- Keith Brooking- that was for far less money. Last night proved what these signings have reaped- while Haynesworth was sent home for practice-related issues- at least the New England players had a legit excuse for not making it to practice- snowy weather- and had planned on other players not showing up, Brooking was firing his players up before the game and they followed his lead:

3. The Rams might be the most pathetic team in the NFL this year. Cleveland, Oakland, and Kansas City have played better this month, Detroit already has made a few strides in the right direction- hell, even Washington showed some pride against the Saints!

4. Hard to believe that the Giants are out of the playoffs after a 5-0 start. I think it came down to this- other than the sweep of Dallas and the OT win over Atlanta, they didn't beat anyone with a pulse. Every time they faced a big-boy team- New Orleans, Arizona, Philly, San Diego, Denver- they couldn't walk the walk. The ironic part- last year, I picked against the Giants almost on a weekly basis. This year, I picked the Giants in 12 of their 15 games- and all their losses but one came in them!

What worries me a bit is that the offense for the colts didn't look like it was in a rhythm until later.and when they began to click a little bit caldwell pulls them out. I still think it was to early to pull them out. At least one more drive would've been appropriate. I believe they should keep the starters in the next game till they show some rhythm. if they don't I believe they will have issues when that first playoff game comes around.it will be hard enough to beat the chargers being in a rhythm. imagine not being in sync. That's if they get to play the chargers.

What about the fans?

In this downtrodden economy we currently find ourselves in, can you imagine being the Colt fan that managed to scrounge up enough money to see your favorite team play in person for one single game of this year. Then, one by one, starters are being yanked and the product on the field isn't worth the price of admission?

What the Colts did yesterday is give the Jets a win. By doing so, it has major implications for the playoff race and the revenues of other teams.

The Colts players and coaching staff, it's a JOB to win the championship. It is THEIR job to be best prepared.....not their job to make sure people are entertained. That is ownships job to sell the product.

IF they were knowing they were getting yanked ahead of time because they wanted to avoid a possible injury, why start them in the game at all. Just send them home.

I could understand sitting Manning at that point of the game with either a big lead (even if the Jets managed a huge comeback) or a big deficit. But what, it was a five point margin??

.
I agree, had they had a big lead, 17-points or so, thats one thing to sit the starters, but with a 5 point lead, come on.

Any one here from Indy ?
How do you feel about it ?

I was at the game, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing, along with 63,000 other fans!!!...At first I thought they pulled Manning because he got hurt on the sack and fumble, but when it became apparent that he was fine, I, along with just about everyone else was outraged!!!...

If the Colts go and win the SB, no one will remember this game, but if we lose, everyone will remember!!!...

Bears in field goal range almost immediately into OT. Game might be over pretty quick.

At the start of the season I wonder how many Aints fans thought they'd be cheering on those nasty Chicago Bears on the final night of MNF?
