NFL 2009-10 Season

Thoughts on the Sunday NFL Games:

3. Sorry HD...but the Browns might be worst team in the NFL.
I'm stunned that the offense is as bad as it is. I thought we had a good chance of beating Denver. I certainly didn't see a blowout coming....It's going to be a loooooonnnnngg year.

....though you may deserved it after you pulled THAT comment out of your a$$. IF you have been here long enough junior, I have never bad mouth anyone's teams when they are down considering what MY favorite teams have done.

I will leave it at that...!

Yeah, right. Thanks for the laugh.:D:D:D

Daze of our Lions (Road to XXXII edition)

Good morning friends!

I don't what to say today, so this will be a short one.

First off, let me say that they stole defeat from the jaws of victory again. I'll put this one on the hands of the offense, or more correctly the lack of hands on offense. A fumble and a couple of drive killing INT's killed them yesterday. This team needs to learn how to finish a game. The turnovers put the defense on the field time and time again, and of course Favre's little dink passes just wore them down.

Encouraging numbers:

1) We actually held a 10-0 lead at one point early in the game.

2) Total offense - Detroit 265 yds., Minnesota 265 yds.

3) We actually out rushed Minnesota 129 -112.

National humor:

Jay Leno: "I TiVoed the Biggest Loser, when I played it back, it was a Lion's Game."

Joe Concha, Foxsports.com - "How cruel is it for the fans in Detroit to be forced to sit through an ESPN pre-game show and listen to the very man who destroyed the franchise for the next deacade talk about his keys to victory for other teams? Matt Millen giving advice is like Jack Kervorkian teaching a class on how to apply the Heimlich maneuver."

They said, I say :

Kicker Jason Hanson : "It's a different attitude sand everything, but we got to fight right now before this starts to snowball and media and fans are like "Oh here we go..."

Too late Jason. That's 19 in a row. No matter how it changes, it's still the same.

C Dominic Raiola: "Too many mental errors. I can remember the whole second half. I know exactly every play that went wrong."

That's good Dom, at least we know Alzheimers Disease isn't the problem. Tell me this agian when you guys make the same mistakes next week, and the next week, and the next....

The "Duh, I'm the Lions Head Coach now" moment:

With about 2:40 or so left in the game, Lion's are down 27-10, Shwartz elects to kick a FG, instead of going for first down deep in Minnesota territory. Sure we we're probably not going to pull off the miracle of scoring 17 more points in 2 minutes and change, but the FG try was pure surrender. 3 pts. meant nothing here, but a TD would have had a longer lasting effect for the team. Only the Lions....

Next week:

Washington at home. I know some of you are looking at this as an opportunity to win. Don't do it! Try to restrain yourself, this ain't happening. Washington has had our number for my entire lifetime. 0-20 and sole holders of the second longest losing streak in NFL history is on the horizon.

Yeah, right. Thanks for the laugh.:D:D:D

He can't really, because the Raiders likely have the worst starting QB in football. With Garcia gone, they can't even really threaten to bench him for someone else (though Garcia will be available again with McNabb is healthy). How does a Raider fan tell anyone else their team is bad?

You can also shove that junior comment in the black hole. You won't talk bad about a poster's team when they're down, but you belittle them with names. Is junior may name? Nope, so don't call me that.

Hasselbeck has a broken rib, but severity not disclosed. Might be able to play this weekend.

Lance Moore and Mike Bell both dinged in the Saints win, but not so serious that they will miss time (Hamstring, Knee)

Plus with Washington's Defense, Lions will get no points.

Chargers should have moved heaven and earth to get Cam Cameron back as the OC after he was fired at Miami. Now the Bolts offense is sputtering and the Ravens are firing on all cylinders with Cameron calling the shots.

Peter Kings comment was funny about the Chiefs game... under what he didnt like about this week's games:

f. If im Todd Haley - I don't know where to start.

g. If im Tom Cable, I know -- the quarterback.

Also, Roscoe Parrish is on the trading block, with potential suitors being the Chiefs, Jags and Redskins... could be traded as early as this week.

First a lawn is destroyed, now this. No one is going to want to play & live in Buffalo if this keeps up:

$400K worth of jewelry?? Just how much are they paying this guy??

Week 2: Monday Morning QB by HD MM

1.The Curse of the Poopy Pants lives on for another week. For whatever reason, Mangini likes the look of the all-brown pants (with no stripe). Ever since these atrocities were introduced last season, the Browns have lost miserably every single time they've wore them. Superstitions are alive and well in these parts. Especially on such a psychologically beaten down team such as the Browns. Continuing to ignore the curse only makes it worse.

2. Speaking of the Browns, their offensive woes are approaching the unbelievable. Despite having great field possession and just 7 yards away from the endzone to start the game thanks to the Broncos fumbling on the opening kickoff, the Browns ended up settling for a field goal.... AGAIN. The game was lost right there. This is a team who has confidence issues. A team who has scored just 1 offensive TD in 7games. A team with no concept of originality on offense. A team not buying into the new coach's philosophy. A team with a serious lack of talent. Not cashing in on an early opportunity cost us the game and most likely the season. CharlesO is right... This Browns team may be the worst in the entire league right now. I've been watching the Browns for 20+ years and yesterday's performance was as bad as they come. :(

3. The Hex is over thanks to Rex! Kudos to the Jets for winning the SuperBowl... errr the Week 2 game against the Pats. It has been a long time coming, but "Sanchise" (Sanchez + Franchise) and the Boys in Green finally overcame that hurdle. I like the passion and confidence Rex has his team playing with right now. And how about Rex still calling for the blitz well into the 4th quarter?! Wow! Talk about an aggressive scheme. What a breath of fresh air this style of ball is. Finally somebody who plays to win instead of playing not to lose! Brilliant!

4. Cincinatti showed a lot of heart by going on the road to beat the Packers. Even more, they exposed the fact that the Pack just isn't ready to be declared an elite team just yet. These are games an elite team can't lose.

5. Who would've thought the Texans could put up those type of numbers against a stout Tennessee defense on the road?! I guess the Titans really do miss Albert Haynesworth.

6. For those of you who believe in karma, karma came for it's payback of the Steelers yesterday. Remember Week 1 where Rob Bironas missed multiple FG's for the Titans that should've won them the game? Well, this time the idiot kicker from Pittsburgh (Jeff Reed) missed a few to cost them the game. What's with the long face Jeffy????

7. For as many great games there were yesterday, there were a few stinkers (Chiefs vs. Raiders, Browns vs. Broncos and Skins vs. Rams). I almost flipped when Jim Zorn decided to go for it on 4th and short late in the 4th quarter instead of kicking a field goal. At the time, the score was 9-7 in favor of the Skins. Three more points would've ensure the Rams would need a TD to win. I'm all about playing aggressively, but what was he thinking?

8. Heckuva Sunday night game last night. Perfect introduction to the new Cowboys Stadium. Everything went so well, except for one minor detail.......the visiting team won!

9. How about Kurt Warner? He set an NFL record for accuracy yesterday by going 24-26. Larry Fitzgerald summarized the performance perfectly....
"Kurt's found the fountain of youth somewhere," teammate [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5528"]Larry Fitzgerald Profile - Arizona Cardinals - ESPN[/ame] said. "I don't know where it is, but we're blessed to have his services."

10. The Seahawks defense is like swiss cheese. Sure Frank Gore had 200 yards rushing, but that sum was largely inflated by his 2 TD runs of 79 and 80 yards. Even Mike Singletary was seen on the sideline smiling.

11. I don't know where this Fred Jackson came from, but he's quickly making a name for himself in Buffalo with the absence of Marshawn Lynch. Speaking of the Bills, nice bounce back win after the week 1 demoralizing loss.

12. Jake Delhomme threw 9 interceptions in his previous two games. He threw one on Sunday against the Falcons. Hey, now that's improvement! BTW, congrats to the youngster Matt Ryan. He threw for 3 TD's for the first time in his career.

13. Sorry Detroit. 19 in a row is tough, but who's counting? On the bright side, I do see improvement from you. You'd probably even be favored in a match up between the Browns and Rams right now too, so it's not all that bad.

Remember Week 1 where Rob Bironas missed multiple FG's for the Titans that should've won them the game? Lol reminds me a few years back when Bill Cower ran that kicker out of town after he lost a couple games for them. Wish I could remember the guys name.
