NFL 2008-09 Season

I can't believe my skins lose like that. No turnovers the whole year and they have 4 in one game.

I'm surprised no one is talking about the wrong call on the offsides in the Dallas Arizona game that gave Dallas the tying field goal.

Jimbo

He wasn't really hurt as he got right back up. He was clearly offsides. I'm still pissed at the no call on roughing the kicker. You can't hit the kicker on a punt after he kicks the ball.

Of course tomorrow night's game could change this, but here's my pre-Monday night Top Ten:

1. NY Giants
2. Tennessee
3. Pittsburgh
4. Tampa Bay
5. Buffalo
6. Washington
7. Arizona
8. Dallas
9. Jacksonville
10. Indianapolis

Tampa Bay #4? Bit iffy on that.

Here is MY top 10 POWER RANKINGS:

1. Tennessee (They played Jacksonville and Minnesota, as opposed to the Giants' schedule of cupcakes)
2. NY Giants
3. Buffalo
4. Pittsburgh
5. Arizona
6. Jacksonville
7. Atlanta
8. Dallas
9. Tampa Bay
10. Indianapolis

Washington should drop out of Bill's top 10, IMO, after that HUMILIATING loss.

Missouri got heavily penalized when they lost at home; so should the Skins

Yes you can. It's like with pass interference. If the ball is hit then you can crush the kicker and there's no penalty. You just better block the kick or else you're looking at a 15 yard penalty.

Uh oh.....

Kellen Winslow has stayed overnight at the hospital for 3 nights in a row now. The team is being eerily mute on the reason, noting privacy issues for the lack of explanation.

The closest I've found on KW2's condition....

Holy cow! Sounds massively painful. I'm certainly wishing Kellen all the best....

IF it IS Hydrocele, then I know EXACTLY what he is going through. I went through that when I was 30. When I chose to go through the surgery INSTEAD of the painfull little needle, the surgery reveiled that I had very very early stages of testicular cancer(small, about a 1/4 the size of your pinky nail melanoma) which has since be removed and I have been in remission since.

..boys and girls.....it ain't pretty.

...sorry for giving too much info there....didn't mean to....

...and sorry for divulging too much info there.....

Monday Morning QB Thoughts: HD MM Style

1. Five games decided in the final seconds. What a week for the NFL!

2. The Rams finally win a game! This in the first game led by new coach Jim Haslett. Sometimes, change is good.

3. AFC, watch out. Peyton Manning's got his groove back!

4. The Pats loss wasn't because they were without Brady. Their defense looked inept and completely over-matched.

5. Is there a more underrated WR in the league than Andre Johnson of the Texans? This guy is a walking, breathing Statistic.

6. Baltimore went on record of naming rookie Joey Flacco their starter for the remainder of the season. After throwing 3 INTS and fumbling twice, I think that was a bit premature.

7. Even in a win, Minnesotta looks very ordinary this year. I was expecting more from this team this year.

8. The Falcons are starting to gain credibility again. After signing a new coach and drafting a starting QB, it appears they can finally turn the page from the Vick debacle.

9. Two more losses in the AFC North by the Bungles and the Rats. If the Browns win tonight, suddenly we're in 2nd place and only two games out of first.

10. The Browns get Donte Stallworth back for tonight's game, in exchange for another big piece we will be without in Kellen Winslow. Don't think for a second, the Browns forgot about the drubbing the Giants put on us in preseason. I expect the Browns to make a game out of tonight. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!?

There is still plenty of hope and time that my Raiders will end up 6-10/7-9 as predicted earlier. I had a strange feeling they were not gonna fair well for the simple reason that at the time, the impending firing was some sort of "circling the wagons" if you will for the team. But now that the wagons were not circled, coupled by the embarrassing loss to the Vikings, I had a very bad feeling about this game from the get go.

The fact that the Rams won ON THE ROAD against the Redskins, the Dolphins crushed the Patriots ON THE ROAD...anything and everything is possible. Again, there is no dominant team....and though I DO think that the Giants ARE the best team in the NFL...."on any given day...."

San Diego was NOT going to lose to the Pats last night. They were embarrassed by the Dolphins last week...not by the score, but how they were completely dominated. Denver....after all this chest pounding the 1st 4 games....they have come back to Earth. The 1st two games, they averaged almost 36 points a game...now, barely 16. And the easy part is done...next they will travel TO the Pats....and after being manhandled last night....the Pats will not be embarrassed two weeks in a row....so expect the Denver to be 4-3 after next week.

Lions WR could be on the move by the end of the trading dead line...

The following are the rumors:

Dallas sends THEIR Roy Williams for the Lions Roy Williams

Dolphins send a #2 for Roy

Raiders send a #2 for Roy

Monday Night Football: Browns vs. Giants, Throwback Style

The Browns will be going with their throwback uni's tonight in honor of a few ex-Browns (Warren Lahr, Paul Wiggin, Walter Johnson and Eric Metcalf) who will be inducted into the Browns Hall-of-Fame at halftime.

Keep in mind that, aside from a few changes, the Browns have basically the same uniforms today that they did back in that inaugural season of 1946. Thus, a throwback uniform for this team is more like going back to the future.

In any event, the Browns will wear:

*Brown jerseys, nearly identical to the ones that are worn by the Browns on every other Sunday this year. It should be noted that in 2006 the Browns went back to the white and orange striping on sleeves that was used until the late 1960s. In between, the Browns used different striping that incorporated brown and feather striping -- a thin space between the various stripes.

*White pants with thinner stripes than the ones that are used today, running down the outside of each leg. These pants were used through 1995, when the original Browns franchise moved to Baltimore.

*Brown socks with white and orange striping that matches the striping on the uniform sleeves. They were worn into the late 1960s.

*Orange helmets with a single white stripe going down the middle from front to back, with the players' jersey numbers in brown print displayed on both sides. Brown stripes on either side of the white one were added in 1960 and remain part of the Browns regular helmet. The numbers were removed after the 1960 season and have not appeared since other than for these throwback purposes.

*Black shoes. The Browns wore this color through 1974, at which time they went to white. They began wearing black again in 2006.

But the defending Super Bowl champion Giants will have a "throwback" look, too, even though they are not doing anything different to accomplish it. In 2000, they went back to the uniform style -- white jerseys with red numbers and striping, silver pants and the "ny" symbol on each side of their helmets -- that they began wearing in 1961.

That was long before the Browns had moved to the re-named AFL, the AFC, to complete the NFL-AFL merger in 1970. It was a time, instead, when the Browns and Giants, virtual strangers now since they are in difference conferences and don't play each other much, were heated rivals in the American/Eastern Conference.

The Browns won the conference title from 1950-55, '57, '64 and '65. They claimed NFL championships in 1950, '54, '55 and '64.

The Giants ruled the East in 1956, and '58-63, and were tops in the NFL in '56.

A lot of people will assume that the almighty media-darling G-Men should supposdely crush the Browns, let me say this:

Remember the Dolphins/Patriots game in 2004.

Although, the Browns are off to a slow start this year, they were a 10 win team with 7 Pro-Bowlers last year. Clearly we are not chopped liver.

Trent Edwards returns to practice, expects to play vs. Chargers

ESPN - Edwards returns to practice, expects to play vs. Chargers - NFL

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills returned to practice Monday following their bye week. More importantly, so did their starting quarterback.

Trent Edwards was back at work a week after being knocked out in Buffalo's Week 5 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and said he expects to play Sunday when the Bills (4-1) host the San Diego Chargers (3-3) in a key AFC matchup.

"I'm getting better each day," he said of the concussion. "It was a tough couple of days there after the hit. I had some headaches and residual effects from it, but slowly but surely they're going away."

Giants? Media darlings? Right division, wrong team!

Give me a break!!!

The ESPN-driven media darlings would be the team with the star on their helmet.
