The pocketdish will have a new timer feature that will allow it to make recordings on it without the need for IR blast. Commands will be sent through the video cable using Extended Data Services Technology (XDS). It will function as an external DVR. Event information for the recorded program will be stored on the PocketDish's hard drive. No additional PocketDish software will be required. It will be enabled by the software upgrades on the Dish Network receiver.
