Just passing this along... No idea when this will start rolling out.
New software versions are being released over the coming weeks to DIRECTV Genie and Hx2x receivers. These downloads will take approximately five weeks to complete a national rollout.
Changes to Satellite Dish Setup Screen
The Satellite Dish Setup screen has been overhauled to simplify the satellite options available to technicians as part of the setup process. In particular, the drop-down list has been modified to minimize the number of satellite dishes. Please note that these options still auto-populate as usual depending on the IRD’s detection of the satellite setup.
The following are the updated dish configuration options available on the Satellite Dish Setup screen:
The new Dish Type options available on Genies include: “SL5 LNB and SL3 LNB”. In addition to those two choices, Hx2x receivers also have options available for “18” Round LNB” and “18×20” Triple-sat LNB”. Note that the SWiM Module option shows up in the Switch Type drop-down mentioned below.
RB/INTL
The RB/INTL drop-down on Genies lists the following options: “None Selected”, “International” and “Reverse Band”. Hx2x receivers include an “RB & INTL” option that encompasses both the Reverse Band and International selections.
The “International” option should be used for customers with international programing, “Reverse Band” for customers that want our 4K programming, and “None Selected” for the majority of customers that are not subscribed to either international or 4K programming.
Switch Type
The new options available via the Switch Type drop-down include: “SWM LNB”, “SWM Module” and “Multiswitch”. Hx2x receiver Switch Type options are still “SWM” and “Multiswitch”.
If the customer has a SWiM LNB installed, it will be auto-detected and the correct Switch Type option will still be locked and greyed out. If the customer has a Non-SWiM LNB, or if the SWiM LNB is not auto-detected, all options within the Switch Type drop-down menu will be available.
Tuners (HR2x Only)
No changes have been made to the Tuners drop-down menu – the options available to select are still “Single” and “Dual”.
System Info Screen
The System Info screen has also been updated to reflect the changes in information on the Satellite Dish Setup screen.
