need to change satellite

its a hooper
Now you'll need to figure out if you need a hybrid lnb or not. Non hybrid (dpp, which you have pictured) goes with a solo node, and a hybrid lnb goes with a hub. If you can follow the lines from the dish, you'll see either a square gray or silver box, which is the node, or you'll see a smaller orange "splitter", which is a hub. Should be good to go to order an lnb after that.

this is the the hybrid i cannot tell the difference from the other pic i posted

The coax ports on the LNB have a different alignment. The two on the left go to the top 2 ports on the hybrid duo hub (as you are showing it), the Hopper goes to the port marked Host. Joeys go to the ports marked Client. The third port on the LNB would be for a wing dish.

If he's using just one Hopper then only one wire from port #1 on the LNB to the hub is necessary. He could probably use a dual hub with terminators and a cap on the unused ports but a single hub is what he should have.

Those dual hubs are made for two Hopper 1's or two Hopper 2's or a Hopper 1 or 2 and a Super Joey.

ok i had to put a pole in the ground and i move the dish. i am still using the same lnb. i set it up pointing to the eastern arc i locked in on sat 77 and i got my locals in hd but the rest of my channels are in sd. that"s no good. also i am missing some channels.i moved it east a bit and locked in on 72 and no locals and i cant find 61.5.what am i doing wrong, the only thing different is i had to use a different cable from the lnb to splitter its one i had with direct tv. signal strength on 77 is good.my lnb is a hybrid.

You said you are still using the same lnb. Are you still using your western arc lnb? If you are, you will not be able to point the dish correctly for eastern arc satellites. As we have explained earlier in this thread, the satellite spacing is wrong, and you will not be able to dial in all satellites at the same time. It will either not work, or it will work marginally with low signal strengths. You need an eastern arc lnb.

I have dialed in 61.5 and 72.7 with a western arc DPP LNBF just to see if I could. It took a lot careful tweaking, and by the time I was done peaking on both sats, both had usable but marginal signal levels. Definitely not something I'd recommend for normal use...

some guys in here said it would work and some said it would not.so i will try a east arc hybrid lnb and i will get my hd channels and all my subscription channels correct.
Some of the guys who said it wouldn't are seasoned technicians that know exactly what they're talking about
