NCAA Football 2011-2012

Stats which I like and condone their use of, can be placed into Context or taken out of Context to prove whatever the talking point of the day is. The stat you linked is beyond meaningless. Nobody cares if Rutgers beats ECU in a Bowl game as some type of desperate attempt to prove their Conference worthiness.

Big Least despite that meaningless record above is regarded across the Land as the Worst BCS conference with relative ease.

There are plenty of places that play Quality football across the land outside of the SEC, no doubt. Just none of it's played in the ACC or Big East. SEC, PAC 12, Big Ten, Big 12 all vastly superior. West Virginia is getting ready to be living proff of that IMO.

Check the NFL numbers if you have any doubt. Though IIRC from the last time I looked the ACC has their fair share of NFL talent. Will try to take an updated look this afternoon.

I believe Billy Hunter is trying to get hold of you so you can distribute the "NBAPA talking points for the day":)

LATE Edit: just read your post above salsa and i do agree that this stuff is basically irrelevant and made more so each passing day with the terribly flawed system we currently have.

I'd be all for 4-16 team Conferences(Two Divisons each) with geographic pod play with the 8 winners comprising the field for an eight team playoff. All other bowls abolished. Never happen but what I would like to see.

The ACC has a few teams that are very good - you rag on VT yet you don't seem to know they are one of the most Consistent programs in the country with current consecutive 10 win seasons of 8 and still going....the team with the highest is - another ACC team Florida State, VT is currently tied OMG you guessed it another ACC team Miami. Some really good teams in the ACC and while there are a few that barely break .500 they play really hard and earn the wins they get.

As for the Big East well.. its falling apart and fast, next year may not be a Big East - may as well call it Little East. If VT wins out and ends up in the Orange Bowl I would hope to see them against a very good team, win or lose at least they stepped up and made it that far but to put them against West VA or Rutgers or Cincy... won't be no match for VT at all and won't hold any attention. At least the Stanford game last year drew a decent ratings number even if VT did get smacked around the field. Hell, I'd rather see Houston play VT than WVA but I don't know what will happen and current projections that I've see has them against WVA or Rutgers.

I'm well aware that Va Tech is and has been a quality program for a decade or better. Rock solid in the Consistentcy department, well coached class of the ACC No doubt.

Year in and year out a solid top 10-15 program and some years a little better than that.

I stand by my statement though that the ACC has been pretty shaky as a whole and would take even more slings were it not for the abject mediocrity of the Big East.

The VA Tech observation is more toward this year only. I just don't see them as a genuine top 10-15 team this season, BCS ranking aside for the moment. I do agree with you that a Va Tech-Houston matchup would be more pleasing than a Va Tech-Big East Matchup.

The stats I posted cannot be skewed...you either won against a team from another conference or not. One conference vs another... it's as black and white as you can get.

But I guess if you believe they bare nothing to the conversation, then you will believe only what you want to believe. Nothing I can do about that...

The at-large selection order (after replacements)this year is Fiesta/Sugar/Orange.Since no-one is ranked in the Big East, their champion will probably be the last pick (again) which puts them into the Orange Bowl against Clempson.

Speaking of Numbers that Can't be skewed

SEC= 7 of the 13 BCS Championships, 5 Consecutive. No Current Big Least members have even played for a BCS Championship much less won one. No current ACC team has played since 2003. Enough said

lol funny how you think Clempson will get to the Orange Bowl. I really laughed out loud.

Ill be bold and say that if two SEC teams make it to the BCS championship game, then there is most likely a 100% chance that the SEC brings home another trophy.

Why? All they have to do is beat a team that they humiliated at home already once this year.

Ya know... Boston College thought that back in 2007, what happened then?

Yeah Clemson threw cold water at VT during that game..... it happens, what you call a rude awaking but right now VT is playing better ball and if you don't see that then you are blind.

Shouldn't be two SEC teams in the NC game.... just can't accept the idea of not winning you're conf and still playing in it when there are other teams that have and are in the top 5 that may win theirs.

Glad to know that the ABOVE stats are now not "meaningless"....

And I cant accept the idea of putting a lesser ranked team ahead of a higher one, simply because the latter won a weaker conference.'

That may very well happen, but I highly doubt it.

yep, and some people were saying how VT was going to handle stanford in the orange last year...

Big East Expansion?

When will Ohio State get the final resolution from the NCAA?
