NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

I think it's hilarious!! I can CLEARLY understand fighting for where you think the conference is better than others...I TOTALLY comprehend the reasoning behind that discussion. But rooting for schools you wanna kill all season just because they live in your block??!! HELL NO!!

It's like the neighborhood bully going to fight another bully from another neighborhood. You gonna root for YOUR neighborhood bully just because he live in your 'hood?!
If you can understand arguing about which conference is better, then how does pulling for your conference in OOC games any different? Seems they are the same thing to me.

Salsa, you're not the only confused one out there. I still struggle to understand the SEC band of brother love.

After rooting for tOSU every week, my 2nd favorite thing to do is root FOR whoever Michigan is playing! :D
You wouldnt get more satisfaction on beating a highly rated Michigan team vs a sub par michigan team?

It would be great IMO if Bama and Auburn were undefeated when they met every year. I would love to wreck that for them, like they came very close to doing for us last friday.

no...because in one instance, you are ROOTING for a team, in the other, you arguing there merits or downfalls. There is no agenda other than dicussing the facts of their won-loss record.

I rarely see the conference comparisons being argued based on nothing but the facts of won-loss records. There is generally alot of fan boy emotion in them, which is why I see the two as similar I guess. I simply see them as connected.

A wins a wins a win. Whether Michigan is good or bad, I cherish each win the same.

Really? I mean the FSU vs FLA rivalary used to be the "big thing" here, but FSU has been down for several years now and the win is just not the same. Yea we won, but id much rather our win mean we stopped FSU from going to the BCS or somthing important. Back in the 90s and even early 2000. When we beat them or they beat us it was usually the loss that would change the season.

The win now, although good does not mean nearly as much as it would to me if FSU was a team on equal ground with UF.

I mean now the LSU vs FLA and FLA vs GA rivalries are bigger deal to me then the FSU one..

I guess that's what seperates pseudo rivalries from time tested REAL rivalries. ;)

The games may be better for a fan to watch if both teams are of equal talent, but I still get a kick out of beating Michigan, even when they're down.

No I just prefer not beating up the little guy. I dont get to much joy when the big kid beats up the downs kid.. I prefer watching two big kids fight and hoping my big kid wins.

I do have a theory about why SEC fans are more conference centric. Up until the early 2000's, ESPN were shills for the Big Ten. I've heard ESPN hosts even admit this and Colin Cowherd says that ESPN never talked about the SEC until he got there and started doing it. There is an us against them attitude among SEC fans.

Truth be told....SEC fans AND Big Ten fans are the only ones I really hear moaning and bitching about their conference. I mean those that are fans of the Big 12, Big East, ACC and PAC-10 ...seldom drooling about their conference....

You are right. From what I see, on most boards, they are bitching about the SEC.

Which is another reason that the SEC fans stick together.

I guess....I really don't bitch about an conference because conference don't me crap to me. I guess because Miami has been somewhat of a gypsy. I mean, I love Syracuse Orangemen basketball....

Pseudo rivalries or REAL rivalries...it's only a rivalry to the self-absorbed fans (some are more than others) of the two teams. Everyone else in the country couldn't care less, except when the two teams happen to suck. ;)

I pull for other SEC teams (except Alabama now - @#*% them - no offense Smith) because it boost's my teams rankings. I also pull for the OOC teams LSU plays each year, even though it's a waste of time since they're usually patsies.
