NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Shortly after post # 1600, Buckeye's D intercepts and Buckeye's win the game.
Terrelle Pryor gets start of the game for OSU, to no surprise ...
I thought he played well but not great by a long shot, he made big plays when he needed to but still had times where he needs to make quicker desicions, all that will come with more reps.

btw, the Buckeye's forgotten man, RB Chris Wells went for 168 yards on 22 carries and 1 TD.

Who's next for your mighty Buckeyes?

Purue, AKA the team with no D? Indiana? Sparty?

I really hadn't looked, but ya, it's Purdue, then a team that I always have second thoughts about, Michigan State, they have another very good RB, Mr. Ringer is another top notch RB in the Big Ten, man the Big 10 has thier share of very good RB's, if they get past the Spartans it's on to the NEXT big battle for the Buck's when # 6 Penn State comes to Columbus....

...RB fumbles the ball out of the end zone while trying to extend to the goal line and it is called Badger's ball at the two, they go on to score a TD instead of Buckeye's ball going the other way .....

I thought the same thing.

Right now Pryor is still thinking highschool - each play he's thinking about doing it all himself. He'll be a different player next year, or even later this season. This first big win away is just one step in his climb to stardom. I think he'll be better than Troy was.

On a seperate note, Wisconsin is just as overrated as Auburn. What a terrible decision by their QB on that last play.

mccoy,

what's it like on those college football Saturdays when the Bayou Bengals are NOT in action during their bye week?

Is it frustrating?

Who do you pay attention to when LSU's not playing?

Thoughts on a lackluster Saturday of College Football.

1) The Big XII continues to flex it's muscles, strong performances by Okla., Texas, Tx Tech and Missouri.

2)USC impressive in beating Oregon, OSU struggled but finished strong to outlast Wisc.. Both teams are starting to redeem themselves.

3) Sabres what the beef with Auburn. They lost by one point( a missed PAT) on the road to a Vandy team that's undefeated and playing with some real spirit. The team that was exposed today was UConn, they were totally outcalssed by UNC.

4)The second best team in the Pac-10 is Arizona, but this conference is really down this year.

5) Late night snack....Hawaii at Fresno State. UH leads the Bulldogs 19-9 at the half. Fresno 4 first half turnovers.

I think Kentucky is better than people give them credit for. If they had a decent QB they could have beaten Alabama.

Remember Troy was not a highly recruited player, not even recruited as a QB, so I seriously hope Pryor ends up better than Troy, but I was very happy to see Troy play :)

I thought the last play was a great decision by the Badger's QB !

I thought that Pryor's TD run was an excellent play, he just sorta G l i d e s when he runs ...

When a team goes up 13-0, they usually build on it instead of just resting on it.

Even in their wins, they didn't look too good.

What really annoyed me about Auburn was that they were ranked ahead of Auburn, BYU, Texas and Texas Tech in the preseason top 25.

Mizzou is KILLING Nebraska in Lincoln!

Chase Daniel is just ridiculously good. He IS amazing.

The Tigers are looking like old-school Nebraska (that's good) and Nebraska playing like old-school Mizzou (that's bad.)

Too bad Texas Tech's not playing Mizzou. That would be awesome.

I hate bye weeks! They should be banned from college football. It's very frustrating not seeing your team play when the season is this far under way.

I'll watch other SEC teams play, and hope for results that will help out my Tigers. Today I was rooting for Kentucky to give Alabama an SEC loss and Auburn to look really good against Vandy - neither happened. :(

And since I'm here in Ohio now, I keep an eye on the local teams and how they did - for water cooler chats. ;) :)

You should know better, Pre-Season polls are a joke.

See: Virgina, Tennessee and Arizona State.

BTW, Hawaii leads at Fresno 26-16 12:00 left in the 3rd. Fresno St. has 5 turnovers.

I completely agree Ramy. Saban had Bama up for this game, and Kentucky stayed with them. If the UK QB doesn't shoot the team in the foot with that turnover early on, they could've beaten the Tide. That was too bad.

Fresno St and Hawaii heading into OT tied at 29.

Fresno 6 turnovers, but scored the last 13 points to tie the game up.

UPDATE: Hawaii just upset Fresno State 32-29 in OT.

Fresno State missed two makeable FG's. Missed first one left, but bailed out by a penalty on Hawaii, then missed right.
Yuck.

Hawaii then kicks the winning FG.

A playoff system won't happen because teams make way more money from bowl games than they ever would from a playoff system.

Look at Division 1-AA (or whatever it's called now). They have a playoff system. Two SWAC schools, Southern and Grambling, never bother to go to the playoffs even if they're eligible. Why? They make significantly more money in this little rivalry game called the Bayou Classic. This is Division 1-AA not even Division 1-A or FCS (or whatever it's called now).

Sabres, the SEC has to have bye weeks to reschedule hurricane games.

Pre-season polls have consistently been wrong. It gives credence to the early "upsets" that weren't upsets at all--just bad pre-season picks. What the pre-season polls do is give broadcasters a chance to hype up games of "ranked" teams. Umm...yeah

Oklahoma will once again run all over Texas. I went to neither school, but I live in Austin. I like the 'horns, but they don't know how to beat a strong OK program. Alabama, Florida (probably not Georgia) and LSU would all beat Texas on neutral territory as well.

They can predict hurricanes, months before they happen? Why not just play every week, and if a hurricane happens, reschedule at the tail end of the schedule? How do you schedule for an event that may or not happen? Not only is the SEC the "best" conference in the country:rolleyes:, they can also see into the future.:D
