NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Two things I realized:

1. This is the third straight season the national champion wil NOT be undefeated

2. Unlike a few years ago, at least Florida EARNED their way into the title game (Florida only got to play Ohio State because USC gagged against UCLA)

Your nightmare is about to get worse Sabres. The Song Girls are going back to the Rose Bowl.

I threw in the towel a week ago when Oregon State's defense took the day off.

I basically knew it would happen- it was just a matter of time.

msmith,

at least you get to go to a nice bowl game. Bama ain't going to the Independence Bowl or some meaningless lower-tier December game.

Thats true. If Oklahoma looses, I honestly think we deserve at least some consideration (at least as much as anyone else in the scenario) for the NC game. It wont happen, and I would rather see FL/OK. In any case, we didnt look bad, and I am happy that we are where we are this year. Never expected it. Here we come New Orleans!

Thoughts on the Early Saturday Games:

1. When asked about the Bama/Florida game, I said my brain says Florida and my gut says Bama. Turns out to be an accurate assessment. Alabama hung around for 3 quarters but Florida was clearly the more physical team in the 4th on both sides of the ball.

2. USC basically sleptwalked it way through is game against UCLA...and the Bruins still had no chance to win.

3. Another reason the college football has become a joke, the ACC has 10 teams bowl eligible yet watching the ACC Championship game of Virginia Tech and Boston College neither team looked any better than a 6-6 team.

4. If Oklahoma does what it's suppose to do and beat Missouri keep an eye on Cincinnati at Hawaii. UC played Oklahoma and UH played Florida and that may end up influencing the BCS Championship.

They took more than the day off. It was more like the rest of the year off. The Ducks scored 60 points on them.

The Beavers also gave up a ridiculous amout of rushing yards to Oregon.

They likely will play Pittsburgh in the Sun Bowl, and LeSean McCoy is licking his chops at the thought of playing such a porous rush defense.

Can you say 300-yard day?

I feel so bad for Alabama, and I absolutely HATE Florida.

I have a sinking feeling that Tebow might win a Heisman on this game.

If Florida wins the national title AND a Heisman, the Gators will jump USC and Notre Dame on my "teams I hate most."

The Gators are just so annoying. They get under my skin.

It is better to be hated than not to matter.

Let me say, I have the utmost repsect for Tebow. By all accounts he is a stand up guy, and he sure can play. I wish he would have went to bama, and I "hate" him for that, but I wish him the best. He is one of the few superstars that doesnt act like it. Its refreshing.

Well darn. I have two calls that I dont agree with, but cant take anything away from florida or tebow. In any case, good game Bama, and good game Florida. RTR!

Good game Alabama fan.

Very few penalties. Only 1 turnover when the game was basically over.

If you have a decent QB, you guys will be very good again next year.

I think you guys will destroy Utah in the sugar, like last year, it is a total mismatch.

By all accounts he is a stand up guy, and he sure can play.

After that Ole Miss loss (that is NOT a bad loss, BTW), he said these now-immortal words:

"You will never see any player in the entire country who will play harder than I will play the rest of the season. And you will not see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody for the rest of the season and you will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season."

Well, he certainly has backed it up to this point.

Yeah, thats the one thing I hate about it. We get Utah. I havent seen them play (they may be great), but it just doesnt have the match up appeal I was looking for in the post season. Oh well:up

He surely did. He is very driven. You have to respect him for that, for his beliefs, and for his character. He seems to be top knotch all around.

It still beats going to Shreveport.

At least Utah is unbeaten- it's not like they would play a 7-5 team.

Seems weird that USC will clinch a spot in the Rose Bowl with a win in the Rose Bowl.

That's why I have complained about them always playing in that game.

It feels anticlimactic.

Try to imagine if North Carolina plays Miami on the road and clinches an Orange Bowl spot in that same stadium.

The player of the game for UCLA was some guy with 50 all purpose yards. That's when you know you've had a bad day. Why can't they just admit that and not call anyone the player of the game?
