NCAA Football 2007-08

The next team to take a huge drop will be Oklahoma! I have a good feeling about Miami going Norman. The offense will do just enough, but The U's defense will be the story.

Miami 21-13!
Unranked Miami over #5 OU, eh? Miami's defense is good, but OU has too many offensive weapons to keep track of. OU, 21-10.

Salsa, I didn't realize Miami was unranked. I guess it's a bad time to be U of M. I think both U of M's will be heard from when the final polls are cast.

Okay Salsa, I'll grant you that if Miami's defense scores 21 points, Miami will win. Cause your offense can't.

LMAO....you scored 79 points against who?!! North Texas??! WHO in GOD's green Earth is North Texas??!! If THEY can score 10 on that defense....I think Miami will score twice as much.

Har! UNT scored in garbage time, after OU hung half a hundred on them already. Then the OU scrubs went on to score about 30 more. Bring it on!

Just Wondering

I happen to notice last week that my Buckeyes took care of their game against a AA team (Youngstown State) played them because that is where Tressel coached for years... The Buckeyes ended up winning by 32 points with the backups in a good part and alot of the regulars on offense playing their first college games.
Tressel will NEVER run up the score, it's not his way.... not even against "That Team Up North"

That said, and the reason for this post... The Buckeye DROPPED a spot in each poll.

My question is WHY ????
They won their game handily .. I suppose they could have run it up to look worse, scoring like 50 if they needed too. (see above Tressel).
Alot of other teams played easy games and won and they didn't all lose spots.

Now for those of you that watched any of the #8 Louisville game last night, yes they won against Middle Tenn. 58-42, this nationally ranked team gave up 42 points to WHO ???

Lets see where they rise to in next weeks poll, another reason I mentioned it , is the fact that by Sunday or Monday many voters will just look at it as another victory for Louisville.

Just wondering

Answer - because the preseason polls are a farce. It's unfortunate that they have such a grip on where teams settle in as the season goes on.

Pollsters seem to be taking more liberty as to shuffling the deck after this first week (example 1 Michigan)

Yeah I don't think they should have a preseason poll. It is stupid to guess at what a team is going to do. And if they keep winning no matter how small the victory, the number 1 team stays there the whole time.

Jimbo, see post #97 for a possible explanation.

It's way too early for the polls to mean much. I'm guessing they moved California up because that was the game with two highest ranked teams that played each other. You almost have to reward California for the win. Ohio State was just in the way in the shuffle to move Cali up.

Looks like the game this week is Virginia Tech and LSU.

Michigan falling out of the polls is having a domino effect in the polls. Maybe the pollsters are thinking if the supposed best team in the conference got beat by a nobody (albeit, a very good nobody), how good can the rest of the conference be? If Michigan rolls over the conference, it will lower their standing even more. It will actually be better for the Big Ten if Michigan continues losing, then Michigan will be viewed as just being overrated, and the fallout on the other teams will be minimal. OR - on the other hand, beating Youngstown St. is not that impressive to the pollsters. I would blame Michigan, that's what you do in Buckeye country, isn't it?;)

I don't blame M for the Buckeyes dropping.. I think it's stupid for people to look at a team and determine that the conference is the same as that perticular team.

Yes, two teams that are playing one another often find themselves moving up to make it look like a better and bigger matchup.

Well, we got our assess handed to us. One thing for sure, you cannot play a team like Oklahoma the way Miami did...dig yourself in a 21-3 hole and expect to comeback. Miami is just in not in the same zip code talent wise as Oklahoma.

Congrats to the Sooners.

It's early in the season, and this ass whipping will groun and actually help Miami than hamper the team. There are plenty of things to work on, but the teams future is very bright.

Yep, Miami will win some. And OU is even better than I thought.

They looked very good. But ONE thing to remember, there have been a couple occasions that OU looked like the greatest team of all time and then suddenly when the Big 12 championship game came around, there was a Texas or a Colorado or Texas A & M to ruin the party. But until I see someone like USC, Oklahoma looks like a very good team.

As far my Miami, just a setback on the road to respectability. I am still see an 8-4 and hopefully a 9-3 season.

This is why they suck
