No such thing as a Defenseless Recvr. if a recvr has his back to you, your defenseless ? If thats the case, any play with the recvr in front of the defender is defensless, that would give the recvr MORE HUGE advantage to the offense.

While Mack Brown has had a few bad seasons lately, his record on the whole is fairly good.

Just ask Tennessee what happens when you fire a long time coach for a few bad seasons.

I think Mack and the horns will have to beat OU, OSU, TCU, TECH and Baylor to have any chance of holding onto his job. Having now watched Texas, I don't think the odds are in his favor

Can't have that, as there are schools that depend on beating those teams yearly to improve their records.

Not to get political but I would assume the athletic departments certainly the football department has there own funding? I mean Army Navy game is big nice ratings, I am sure they have a decent TV deal, and it is not free to go to the games. I do not think those programs operate on outside funding.

I assume that all the service academy coaches and staff are Federal employees, and subject to furlough. They can't even volunteer to work without pay. Somebody correct me if that's a bad assumption.

The upperclassmen and coaches fall into the federal employee system and are therefore bound by the no travel furlough. I imagine all the stadium employees are also federal employees and furloughed

As it turns out, they have all been OK'd to continue with thier scheduled games.

Whew! Notre Dame could easily have a losing record if not for the games with those teams as they are almost guaranteed wins on their schedules.

I assume that all the service academy coaches and staff are Federal employees, and subject to furlough. They can't even volunteer to work without pay. Somebody correct me if that's a bad assumption.

The coaches and staff are paid by the athletic association, and thus not considered federal employees. The athletic association also pays for all game costs. The athletic association is not funded by the federal government, as it makes it's money through tv revenue, ticket sales, and private donations.

The only federal costs is the cadet/midshipmen's pay, which is funded through the DoD is form of active duty pay. Even then it's no extra federal money outlay, as their football play is considered "off time" and secondary to their MOS (student).

Does overwhelming success at one sport overshadow being crappy at the other? If not, why is Alabama listed? If so, why not Kentucky?
