It was reported on WJOX a reputable paper in Texas (don't remember the name) reported Saban as next Texas coach. Done deal.

Matt and Scott (no last names) were the sports talk show host that reported the newspaper report from Texas. They do the 5-8 show on JOX.
These guys are from Texas and they were the ones saying the newspaper doing the reporting was a very reputable paper.

I just dont see why he'd go. He's loved, making bank, got great coaches and player. Texas would just not be appealing to me, but he isnt known for staying put either.

Smith also lives not 5 miles from the line, grew up in Alabama (still spends much of his time there, family still lives there), and is only 50 miles north of your location. I'd wager we even know a Bama fan or two in common. That and its not like Bama fans aren't in Mississippi as well lol.
Don't get me wrong, its talked about. alot. Just more so by non Bama fans than by Bama fans. I guess its easy to get it all mixed together in the chatter. It would be a huge story.

That's true. LSU fans are obsessed over it, lol. I would love for Saban to leave the SEC, but I would hate for Saban to go to Texas. LSU has a nice recruiting pipeline in that state right now. If he were to become coach of UT, that pipeline would be depleted terribly. You think he has booster backing in Alabama? Just imagine what he could do with the Texas oil industry backing him. Depressing to think about unless you're a Longhorn fan.
I still think its Sexton making himself and his clients money. Jimbo and Malzahn already got their $$$, he is working on Saban now.

Yep. That's the extension I was talking about. It was being talked about Friday but nothing has been signed...yet.

That still is chump change compared to what Texas would be willing to pay Saban. Forget the other great reasons to consider the Texas job, just the money alone explains why it appears he may be thinking about it a little bit. I don't think he leaves Alabama but not having responded to the extension offered makes me wonder and makes others nervous.
