What if Saban goes to Texas, then Texas and OU join the SEC West in a couple of years during another conference realignment? That would create quite a stir from LSU, UA, and A&M fans for sure.
Won't happen. OU won't be allowed to go anywhere without OSU. Plus Texas doesn't like the idea of income equality that the SEC has long had, and since the SEC really doesn't need Texas, they'll never budge on that.

OSU would go as well, to the SEC East perhaps. If more teams bolt from the Big12, none of them may have a choice but to realign. You never know.

You're probably right. Texas would go independent before they'd agree to that.

Well, I was wrong. He is gone.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban has signed a contract with Texas valued at $11 bazillion annually, according to a source close to the program."It's going to be a challenge for the boosters," the source told TSK. "For one thing, we have to figure out exactly what a bazillion is."
According to TSK's source, the contract Saban signed also has several fringe benefits. For example, boosters have agreed to purchase a small African nation for Saban upon his retirement. Saban would be able to choose between Eritrea and Kenya. If the coach were to win a national championship, the state of Texas would change its name to Nicksabania.
The university has also figured out how to handle the delicate issue of Saban's responsibilities for the Longhorn Network, which some saw as an obstacle to the media-averse coach taking over at Texas. According to the source, the network will replace most of Brown's shows with reruns of "Walker, Texas Ranger." Saban will do one program each week in which he yells at Texas beat reporters for 30 minutes.
It is not yet known when Saban might be introduced as the coach of the Longhorns. One complication, Texas officials said, was that current Texas coach Mack Brown has locked himself in the office with Bevo and a loaded BB gun, loudly playing Michael Bolton songs to drown out repeat requests that he come out.

That would make sense, a team in the west (in sec country) going to the east ?

So .... your saying 2 wrongs make a right ? :D

Lol no but it would make about as much sense.

I guess I do get why they did it, protect the cross division rivalries and as little shake up as possible. But I certainly shook my head a few times.

Nick Saban has proven time and again to be up for any challenge college football can throw at him. Now, he’ll face his greatest test yet — coaching two of the biggest programs in the nation at the same time.

The University of Texas and University of Alabama issued a joint statement today announcing that Saban would be head coach of both the Longhorns and Crimson Tide next season, the first such arrangement in NCAA history. The two schools will split Saban’s 4-year, $60 million contract, as well as costs for the private jet and helicopter Saban will use for traveling between the school’s games.

“At this point, with our incredible coordinators and assistants handling in-game tactics and our well-oiled recruiting machine, my role at Alabama is almost superfluous,” Saban said, as he received a text confirming another 5-star recruit was committing to the Crimson Tide. “Any coach can win four national championships between two programs — that’s kiddie stuff. But can a coach bring two teams to the national championship game simultaneously? That’s what I intend to find out.”

I don't understand why he would want to leave one of the top schools in football in the top conference.

Nowhere to go but down. I think if he was 10 years younger he would leave, but not at his age now. If anything, Alabama should worry more about a retirement than him going somewhere else.
