Until the conferences are equal, while I may agree with the general thought process, I just can't agree with it put into practice.
Why not? The SEC champ gets equal billing to get into March Madness, and with the exception of Kentucky the SEC is a joke in basketball.

Kentucky's not the only school in the SEC that can play basketball. But that's an argument for another thread.

And 64+ teams getting in after playing 30+games a season makes it the same because?

So we are back on football now? Good. ;)

Its interesting the top 12 effectively are chosen and spread out into bowl games. To be honest, I feel better about a group of smart and hopefully unbiased folks in a room looking at all the data available for the decision, vs the current process. If you can make the top 4, you have a chance. Up until now, people have felt at times the top 2 teams were the wrong teams to play, at least in a playoff system 3 and 4 get to state their case. Wonder how many times we may see #4 win it all...

The other factor is #2 and #1 win their semifinal games but get some injuries, all kinda scenarios are out there and I think itll add to the excitement.

Its a shame that that is not what we have on the committee. At least one of the people on that board admits to knowing little about the game, much less about the teams. Oh, well, politics as usual keeps the incompetents in power. :(

Well, on the other hand, dont you want people without any history making decisions just off facts? Kinda like a jury.

The best teams are not hard to determine if you take out the homerism and look at facts.

um what about FLA? They have won 2 national titles in the last 8 years in bb, along with another 2 final 4 and like another 2 elite 8 appearances..

THANKS FOR NOTICING!!

How about the rest of the conference? The SEC doesn't come close to some of the other Div I B-ball conferences (I wish it did, as Georgia basketball is painful to experience), yet their champion has the same guaranteed entry as the others, and it's teams get the same at large chance. Football should be no different if/when it goes to an 8/16 team playoff.

So it's reported Mack Brown is stepping down, then Texas and Brown deny that, but the school says there is a meeting about the subject Thursday. Cliff's Notes: Bye bye Brown, hellooooo Saban.
