NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

...in a very unusual occurance, we play the Hawks AGAIN tonight! This time in Quicken Loans Arena!

Back when there were a dozen or fewer teams in the league, Boston and Philadelphia used to play each other on Saturday and Sunday several times a year, and they were televised. Wilt and Russell.

The only thing funnier than a Johnny Most sound-alike contest would be a Johnny Most look-alike contest.

I would not say strong. I watched the game and they were pretty even until the 4th quater when Atlanta could not make wide open shots and couldn't put in a whole even in if they were in a brothel!

Cavs dodge a bullet, Celts taking a bullet...

I HATE making excuses, but I will anyway. :)

The Celtics are without Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Marquis Daniels, and Rajon rondo is pretty banged up also.

Not only that, in the 35 years I've been following the Celtics, I can never recall a more crazy early season schedule than this one! The C's have had three road trips of 4 games or longer since Thanksgiving! Up until this week they were 13-1 on the road, but things started to unravel against the Clippers and Warriors (they STILL should beat those teams), and especially tonight against the Suns (understandable).

Believe it or not, the Celtics come home for one game, and then go back on the road for four out of five. And that's after playing 12 of their last 15 on the road!

I'm confident come February, this team will be healthy, and once again be a team to be reckoned with! :up

Boston's doing a good job dealing with these injury and travel issues- their record is testament to what they've done in the face of adversity.

The Celtics and Bruins used to have the longest road trips in their leagues when "the circus" came to the Boston Garden. Do they even have circuses any more?

I think they used to have to go on the road during the Ice Capades, but we really can't complain about that, because the Celtics wouldn't have gotten Bill Russell without the leverage of allocating Ice Capade dates.

Yes, Ringling Bros. comes every October.

At least in the "new" Garden you don't smell the elephants until the following spring!:eek: :D

The Cavaliers are who we THOUGHT they were...........

a damn good hoops team.

(I would have bet a pound of fudge that HD would have waxed poetic on King Bron's birthday)

In a much anticipated matchup in the ATL, the Cavs once again looked STRONG on defense last night.

Final score:

Cavs 95
Hawks 84

That post was regarding the night before. We played the Hawks two nights in a row. Game 2 commentary will follow shortly...

Happy Freaking Birthday LeBron James!

The King came home for his 25th Birthday and boy oh boy did he receive the nicest present from the most unlikely of sources..... Anderson Varajao, aka THE WILD THING!

In Game 2 of a back-to-back, possible playoff preview, the Cavs and Hawks met. And for the 2nd straight game, the Cleveland Cavaliers won!

To start the game, the Hawks came out shooting lights-out. They even built a 17-point lead in the 3rd quarter. Then, the Cavs defense clamped down and fought back.

Towards the end of the game with just 0:17 seconds left, it was all tied up at 101. As the 24-second shot clot was expiring, a desperation pass was sent in Anderson Varajao's direction who happened to be all the way out on the 3-point line. Varajao jacked it up and nailed the 3! LeBron ran down the court and gave Andy the biggest hug imaginable! It was a special moment. After the game, Andy dedicated that shot as a birthday present to LeBron. As time expired on the game clock and well after the game was officially over, the entire sell-out crowd of 25k+ remained in the stands, cheered their hearts out and soaked up the magic. It was one of those very special nights to be cherished.

Oh, and you know that birthday boy? He finished up with a ho-hum 48 pts, 10 reb, 6 ast, 2 stl, 2 blk! If there's a better player on the planet, I haven't met him. Happy Birthday LeBron. You deserve it!

Here's the final seconds of last nights game, including the game winning shot by Andy, which was his FIRST career 3-pointer!....

OK HD, when we left Cleveland was in second or third place in the conference, and while we were in Cabo they shot up to first. If you would like to fund a two month trip to Cabo in from mid-April to mid-June to get rid of us for the playoffs, please let me know. :D

During last night's game at The Rose Garden, Shaq fell into the lap of Daniel Baldwin and gave him a kiss....

As called by Cavalier announcer Joe Tait:

“There are 2 (Baldwin’s) that can act, and 2 that can’t…that was one of them that can’t.”

Ouch!

Oh, the Cavs win 106-94 over the Portland Trail Blazers. LeBron with a ho-hum game (41 pts, 10 reb, 8 ast).
