NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

:D

ouch!

But ironic nonetheless... :D

These jersery's weren't just conjured up. These are vintage jerseys worn by Cavalier greats of yesteryear including: Mark Price, Craig Ehlo, Hot Rod Williams, Larry Nance, etc.

The Cavs aren't the only two teams to don the orange and blue and they won't be the last.

Don't forget Brad Daugherty and Ron Harper. ;)

Those late 80's Cavs teams were stacked with young talent!!!

Bill, did you watch Hawks/Celtics last night? Tom Heinsohn was in rare form! :D

You know what, I totally forgot they were on last night!

I'm glad I did, the Hawks are now 3-0 against the Celtics this year!

What was up with Tommy, Sandra? Did it have something to do with Doc getting the old heave-ho?

Yeah, Big Baby fouled someone from behind going up for a layup, he was given a flagrant 1. Borderline call I thought, flagrant 1 might have been excessive but arguable...and Doc Rivers argued and was tossed.

That gave the Hawks six free throws in a row, and Heinsohn went ballistic. 'They're giving Atlanta the game!'. I think that made it from like an 8 point lead to 4 or 5, I forget. And it went on from there, every foul or non-foul after that was the worst call in the history of calls. Gotta love Heinsohn, he's nothing if not loyal!

I love Tommy, but he does go overboard at times on the "Celtics are getting screwed" stuff.

It even- at times- sounds like Mike Gorman (Tommy's pxp partner for almost 30 years) gets uncomfortable

About that Atlanta game...

it's amazing how the Hawks have transformed into a respectable team after a terrible first six/seven year stretch this decade- ever since that playoff series against the Celtics a few years ago.

They had been a wretched team in the 2000s- Lions-esque- but have totally transformed themselves into a team to be reckoned with.

Their turnaround from joke team to legit contender reminds me of the Arizona Cardinals

I know another team that dons the orange and blue :D

As dangerous as the Hawks are.....if they do not have the home court advantage in a playoff series...they are done. Perfect example was the Heat/Hawks series last year. On the road, they lost by an average of 20 points....at home, they won by more or less the same average. Atlanta had the home court in that series.

I think that's a perfect analogy! :up

And as Salsa has correctly pointed out here a couple of times, they are VERY athletic!

Johny Most was better. At half time, he'd "prove" that the Celtics were getting screwed by the refs by comparing the number of fouls called on each team. Gues what? When you have a team of thugs, hacks and butchers like Charley Scott, Sidney Wicks, Dave Cowens and Paul Silas, you will always wind up committing more fouls than the other team does.

And they're calling an offensive foul on Archibald! I don't believe it! That is the worst call I've ever seen in my life!

- Johnny Most

..and tonight, Celtic fans, we are in for a special treat, as the Boston Celtics take on Rick Barry and the Golden State Debating Team. This "fact" isn't in the NBA record book, but Rick Barry has never committed a foul in his life! Well, that's what he thinks!

-ibid

Tommy Heinson once got a technical foul called on himself just for scowling. I saw that game on TV.

Perhaps the greatest trade in Hawks history was Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk for rookie Joe Johnson. Rogers was a rent-a-bench player for 27 regular games plus two playoff rounds, and Delk was sort of like Eddie House, meaning the kind of player you can buy any time as a free agent for $2 millon a year without giving up anyone for him.

My favorite Johnny Most story was the one told to me by my Dad.

I believe it was a game in the early to mid 60's (before I was born).

The Celtics were playing the Nats up in Syracuse. A brawl ensued when the game ended (I believe Tom Heinsohn and Dolph Schayes were the main culprits), and the Syracuse fans came on to the court and joined the melee.

Most, in all his wisdom, beckoned Celtics fans that were listening, to get up to Syracuse and help because "we're getting our a*s#s kicked"! :D..............Johnny, according to my Dad, was dead serious!

When I started watching the Celtics in the mid-70's, my Dad would tell me to turn the volume on the TV down and listen to Johnny on the radio.

He told me it was like you were watching two different games............and he was right! :)

I would watch the Celtics on TV and Paul Silas, Dave Cowens, Steve Kuberski, Kevin McHale, Rick Robey, Greg Kite, etc. would be mauling the opponent, BUT Johnny on the radio had it the other way around! It was hilarious!

What did you tell me last year? It's not home-court as much as it is "matchups"?

The Hawks match-up better to some teams, while they struggle against others. For instance, Atlanta seems to match-up well against the Celtics for whatever reason. They're 3-0 against them this year (2 on road, 1 at home). Meanwhile, Cleveland is perfect against Atlanta. They beat them on consecutive nights even (once on the road and once at home).
