NBA 2008-09 Season

The Cav's Magic Number to clinch the Central Division is at 15.

Any combination of Cavs victories and losses by the second place team in the Central (currently Detroit) adding up to 15 will give Cleveland it's first Central Division title since 1976!

Looking at what has happened to Detroit, the Cavs will practically clinch the division before my birthday (March 15th).

I basically said it in December or January and I was right- Detroit had no shot at catching the Cavs.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the death of Larry Miller, the owner of the Utah Jazz.

the rest of the team stood around and did nothing but watched. Perimeter defense was atrocious and they had their asses handed to them on the boards.

I said weird because this was the first time in a long time I remember a guy having 50 points in a game and his team getting their clocks cleaned.

Cleveland is impressing the bleep out of me tonight!

With Delonte now back from injury, this team has a lot of answers: LBJ, Mo, Delonte, Wally, Z. That's a lot of firepower.

This complete and utter obliteration of Detroit by the Cavs (don't be fooled by the final score- they Cavs led by 30 points for a stretch of time in this game) is the final nail in the Pistons' coffin.

Last year was their last legit chance to win a title, and that window of opportunity is closed.

They are done, finished, cooked, buried.

And it gets worse- they have a brutal five-game stretch coming up- Miami, New Orleans, Orlando, Boston, Denver.

They need to focus on trying to hold off surging Milwaukee for the second spot in their own division.

Oh, and as for HD- Cleveland got only 99 points, so you know every Taco Bell in your hometown is breathing a sigh of relief, if you know what I mean.

Three nationally televised NBA Games- three blowouts.

Coincidentally, the games were won by the East's Big Three (Cavs, Celts, and Magic), and the combined margin of victory- 65 points.

WELCOME BACK D-WEST!!!!!!!

25 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds in his first game since being sidelined since Jan. 15th!

The Cavs also improved their home record to 25-1 this year. Whoever said homecourt advantage doesn't matter hasn't told this organization!

On a night where the Cavs lead the Pistons by as many as 36 points in the 3rd quarter, Allen Iverson had this to say....

"We stunk the gym out," said Allen Iverson, who led the Pistons with 14 points. "We acted like strangers out there tonight."

And LeBron... he was able to get some well deserved rest as he sat on the bench the entire 4th quarter as the game was in the bag. In 3 quarters, he scored 20 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.

Weird game in Orlando- D-Wade scores 50, but the Heat get blown out by 23, and the Magic hit 17 threes

One thing I found odd was that Miami's Coach put Wade back in the game with 6 minutes left. The Heat were getting absolutely blown out and there was no chance for them to come back. Of course, Wade needed 6 more points to reach 50. But at what risk? Not the brightest move by the young head coach.

It was INCREDIBLY STUPID.....I don't give a ratz ass about him scoring 50....it gonna really help??!! UNLESS there were 10-point shots...no..

I was livid when I saw him go back in.

My old man and I were talking during the game yesterday, and we finally came up with a player Delonte’s game and potential reminds us of most. With his uncompromising defense, the lean but strong body, the stoicism on the court, the willingness to stick his nose in for every loose ball and rebound, the blood that seems to show up on his body or uniform every other night, the fearlessness in taking open shots even if he’s missing: Dennis Johnson during his days with Boston. DJ was the type of player opposing fans didn’t really notice but watching him every night he just grew on you until he became a big fan favorite. Delonte’s a better shooter already, but if he becomes our DJ no one should complain.

I'm sure BillD and CeltsHD can attest to how integral DJ was to Boston's '84-'86 Championship teams. I view Delonte in the same light. Glad to have you back, D-West!

That's what Joe Dumars and I have been trying to tell everyone.

Eh. Not if your among a few teams battling for the 1st seed in the East. These next 2-3 weeks will be crucial in deciding the race for that top seed. 1 of those games will be the Cavs @ Boston. Currently, the season series is tied at 1 game a piece. If either team wins the series, it could be a tiebreaker down the stretch.

The playoffs are more of a marathon, than a sprint. Fresh legs in May/June do matter. I do believe your Cavaliers will have home court advantage, but your guys need to find some rest for LeBron before then. It's not going to do you any good (home court) if your star's legs feel like concrete.

LeBron has played fewer minutes this year than any previous point in his career. If we can continue to win games in the 3rd quarter, he will continue to sit the 4th quarter and get some valuable rest as he did last night.

And the "concrete" thing will be overcome by adrenaline. Anyone who claims tiredness as an excuse for a loss in the playoffs shouldn't be in this league.

hhmmm.....where have I heard THAT before....?;)

OK, Nostradumbass (somebody called me that when I started here, too.) If you throw enough sh*t on the wall, some of it is bound to stick. You're prognostications aren't anymore accurate than anybody else's. (With the exception of the Arizona Cardinals, that was a hell of a call.)
