NBA 2008-09 Season

The first casualty of the NBA season....

Today, Eddie Jordan was fired as coach of the Washington Wizards after opening the season 1-10 without injured starters Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood.

ESPN - Washington Wizards fire coach Eddie Jordan after 1-10 start

He was a decent coach, but its amazing what has happened to this team.

In 2006-07, they were so good for a while- I had the Wizards going to the NBA Finals that year at one point!

Bottom line- Eddie Jordan was to the Cavs as Marty Schottenheimer was to John Elway.

Nationally Televised NBA game tonight:

[ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=cle"]Cleveland Cavaliers News, Schedule, Players, Stats, Video - NBA - ESPN[/ame] at [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=nyk"]New York Knicks News, Schedule, Players, Stats, Video - NBA - ESPN[/ame]7:30pm, NBA TV

Personally, I'll be watching the local FSN affiliate as I can only imagine the commentary to be overwhelmingly about 2010 instead of the game at hand.

Hey, at least my Cavs won!

119-101 over the Knicks. And it wasn't even that close. At haftime, the Cavs lead 67-38. If NY thinks LeBron will go to this horrid Knicks franchise in 2010, they've lost their damn minds! Spike Lee is even embarrassed!

I havn't enjoyed watching the Cavs this much since the days of Price, Daughertey, Nance, Hot Rod and Ehlo :)

What is wrong with Marbaby? On Wednesday night against the Pistons, the Knicks were down to two healthy guards and called upon Stpehon Marbaby to enter the game. He refused. Now he's suspended for a game and fined $400,000.

After the game, teammate Quentin Richardson offered this harsh criticism...

"I don't consider him my teammate," Richardson said of Marbury Wednesday. "You don't do that to teammates. Regardless of whoever he's trying to stick it to, at the end of the day, we're being left out there."

IMO, the Knicks are one of the most dysfunctional teams in sports. Geesh.

Are there any NBA fans on this board? I know Bill was a fan and posted often. Unfortunately he's gone now. Sandra is a fan, but doesn't have much to root for in NY. Calling all NBA fans?! Where are you?.....

(Now that my NFL season is pretty much done and the Buckeyes don't play again until January, I'm lost)

I'm an NBA fan.

Yeah, but you get to see like 3 NBA games a year since your a Jazz fan living in Wisconsin. Do you watch regular season nationally televised games other than Utah?

Yes.

I watch all the TNT and ESPN games, and always watch for scores and jaw-dropping plays.

I can't get excited about the NBA until football is over, and I really don't pay a lot of attention until the playoffs begin.

Sabres, in another thread, you asked me to explain the pre-game routine of LeBron and the smoke in the air ritual...

It's actually a rosin type powder and Kevin Garnett does something similar. LeBron brought a little dramatic flare to it by flinging the rosin in the air and holding his arms widespread.

But if you're looking for some sort of deep meaning to this, there is none. It's just another pre-game ritual that many sports players have.
