MLB 2013 Season

They didn't get swept so not as predicted and the Reds could have easily swept them.
Yep. Either team could have easily won any of these games. Each game was just one clutch hit or one mistake away from a different outcome.

But, they still didn't cool them off.
Great pitching on both sides.
Like I said, the Dodgers pitching is nothing like the Giants pitching.

Reds hitting is just pathetic. I can see having trouble with Kershaw and even Ryu. But not getting anything off a pitcher that has a 5.03 era going into the game is just awful. Reds may make the playoffs but they won't do much once they are there. They can't win these 1-0,2-1 type games. Dodgers and Cardinals are the class of the NL and one of those two should be in the World Series.

Pathetic? Before the series only St. Louis has scored more. Now they are third in the league in runs scored behind CO (4 more runs) and St. Louis. A team that is #2 in runs scored in the league does not have a sucky offense.

They really struggle with clutch hitting. They will have those 13-1 wins that really inflate the runs numbers. IIRC they are at or near the bottom of the league in RISP. I would say if you look at their losses the vast majority are games like this past weekend. Low scoring games that if they had just one or two key hits or if they could manufacture a run or two they would have won.

They are #1 in the league in BA with RISP at .338.
And #1 with RISP and 2 out at .319

I saw the other day that he hit his first ever go ahead home run in the 8th inning or later. This bum is so anti-clutch is not even funny. He has great stats but a losers mentality.

Red Sox have 61 wins this year, with a bunch of injuries, because of getting rid of guys like Adrian Gonzalez.
Oh yeah. Mr. "anti-clutch" was leading the Dodgers all season in BA with RISP, and is currently second on the team behind Ramirez, at .375. And his average with RISP and two outs is .457. Which is #2 in the league behind only Graig of of the Cardinals.

So again, how is he "anti-clutch"?

Yeah, but the Reds hitting w/RISP sucks plain and simple.

That's really hard to believe, but numbers don't lie.
Remember in baseball failing over 60% of the time is still considered good. So as fans we often remember the majority of the time our teams fail and forget about the times they succeed.

The Reds are a good team. They would be in first if they were still in the NL West.

MLB Radio is reporting that MLB told A-Rod he must accept the deal to suspend him for this season and the rest of next or he will be banned for life. If he tries to fight it or appeal it, MLB will then withdraw the deal and ban him for life.

It seems like they have a lot on him, more than just PEDs. They have a lot of evidence of him lying and interfering with the investigation.

A-Rod's ban maybe announced as early as today, but most likely tomorrow.

This is probably the only case where the team hopes he is banned for life. Of the other players named, their respective teams are hoping they don't get banned.

Look at your stats again. That's the Cardinals who are first. They are unholy good. The Reds are in the middle of the pack at about .250. The Reds are next to last with RISP and two outs at .200. That's awful. They had better turn it around or they won't make the playoffs. They also have an under .500 record agianst teams with over .500 winning percentage. They did playofss in 2010 with that but made quick exit. I hate bringing all this up about my favorite team but that's the facts right now. I sure hope it will change but unless they get another bat or Ludwick comes back on fire I'm afraid things won't change.

Great info at the link that was posted ...

It CLEARLY shows why the Tigers struggle so badly ...

The Tigers while leading the AL in many batting categories, are dead last in 7th inning on at a very poor .200 avg.
They are much better at the RISP w/2 out though, and I didn't think they were doing that well to be honest.

"Talking to George Scott is like talking to a block of cement."

- Dick Williams

Boomer never saw a curveball in the dirt that he didn't like. A gifted gloveman with great fielding instincts. He had his ups and downs. He had 18 homers through maybe late June his rookie year (1966), but then they started throwing him the curveballs away and he "only" hit nine more homers that year. The next year, he hit 303 with fewer homers, but then he endured maybe the worst season at the plate I've ever seen a hitter have in 1968.

I remember near the end of his career, he was in an 0 for 25 slump with 20 strikeouts, and then he hit a monster homer to dead left, which he never did. The Fenway crowd went nuts, calling for a bow, but he wouldn't come out of the dugout, and the pitcher refused to throw his next pitch until the cheering subsided, which it didn't, and that stalement lasted for about five minutes, until Luis Tiant "disguised" himself as George Scott, putting on Scott's batting helmet, which he always wore, even in the field, and rolling up someone else's jacket and stuffing it inside his own to make it look like Scott's lard belly, and Tiant then came out of the dugout and waved at the fans and the fans loved it.

"There's five superstars in the American League: me, John Mayberry, Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson and Rod Carew."

RIP Boomer!! For the most part he batted 7th on those powerful '77/'78 Red Sox teams.

2B- Remy
SS- Burleson
CF-Lynn
LF- Rice
DH- Yaz
C- Fisk
1B- Scott
RF- Evans
3B- Hobson (one year he had 30 HR's and 100 RBI's in the 9 hole)

Man, this lineup brings back fond memories as a kid growing up!
