MLB 2013 Season

The Giants pitching cannot even come close to matching the Dodgers. Even when their 2 aces are off and didn't pitch well, they still outpitched anyone on the Giants.

Ryu is a different type of pitcher compared to Greinke and Kershaw. He throws soft, gives up a lot of hits, but always seems to induce DPs. He also seems to get a lot of run support. If he gives up 3 runs in 8 innings that is a good performance for him. Whereas that would be a really bad performance by Greinke or Kershaw.

Bailey pitched 7 innings giving up 2 runs, all on a 2 run HR by Hanley.

1 BB
5 Ks
7 hits
2 ER

Kershaw pitched just OK. He really didn't have it. Made too many pitches, 114. He ended up pitching 8 innings giving up 1 run, 8Ks, and no walks.
8 IP
0 BB
8 Ks
6 hits

Kershaw barley out-pitched someone with an ERA 3 times his. Now it will be left to the bullpens.

Like I said, the Dodgers never give Kershaw any run support.

Ryu pitches tomorrow. He always seems to get a lot of run support no matter who he faces.

Your Great pitchers find a way to win when they don't have it that day usually ...

Just guessing as I don't know the pitcher, but, he's a Ground Ball pitcher ?

A weak contact pitcher. A lot of weak fly ball and ground ball outs as well as a lot of seeing eye and soft line drive hits.

He sort of like David Wells. A big left handed pitcher who throws a lot softer than his size would have you believe.

Capuano pitches tomorrow. He is just a soft throwing dookie baller whom must be accurate on the corners to be successful. If his accuracy is off, he will get shelled. He hd definitely their weakest pitcher by a lot.

Remember, Beckett, Billingsley, and Lilly are done for the year. So Capuano is their #8 starter filling in for the other 3.

When the Dodgers went 22-5 in 28 games, 3 of the 5 losses are when Capuano pitched.

Here is something interesting. A Tweet from Buster Olney

@Buster_ESPN: Kershaw has thrown more than 800 curveballs since he last allowed a HR with that pitch -- two-plus years ago (Allen Craig – April 16, 2011).

Pretty soon, the guys with the baseball data base search capabilities are going to have to find the record for the fastest plummet from the .400s to the .200s by a player who was hitting .400 (60 for 150) through his first hundred and fifty at bats. Iggy's batting average has dropped by nearly 70 points in three weeks, without him having been robbed of even one hit.

Iggy update: he just got his fourth hit in the last ten games in his second at bat tonight, (4-34 with a few innings to go), and only one hit reached the outfield. He has had one bunt and two swinging infield singles.

Ryu pitched an awesome game, one of his best. Of course this would be an OK game if Kershaw pitched.

After 6.5 innings it again is in the hands of the bullpen.

He gave up a lot of hard hit outs so it could have been worse.

Tomorrows pitcher is the only weak link in the Dodgers starting staff. If the Reds offense does come alive in this series tomorrow is the best chance.

The Dodgers gained a game against every team in their division today except the Padres.

Speaking of pitching, Strasburg had another one of those games where he became something like only the second guy in the last 100 years to pitch 8 innings, striking out 12 or more, walking none and giving up two or fewer hits while losing...

The Nationals don't have a snowball's chance in hell of making the playoffs this year, even with there being two wild card teams in each league's playoffs. When Strasburg got shut down after reaching his arbitrary 160 inning post-rehab limit last year, there was less fan outrage or controversy here in Washington, DC than there was nationally, where ESPN needs to make controversies to have news items to show us. The fans here, like the fans in lots of other places in lots of other years, were naive. They really thought that, after making the playoffs and having half a dozen of their fine young players win end-of-season achievement honors, things could only get better and that Strasburg would get to perform and deliver for them in the playoffs year after year, like Jim Palmer did for the other local team, the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately, baseball teams are all fragile. The 1966 Baltimore Orioles, the team on which a 20 year old Jim Palmer outdueled Sandy Koufax in the 1966 World Series and which seemed poised to launch the first American League, post-Yankees dynasty, finished sixth the next season and had to reload several times over the next decade. The Nationals can only hope to be half as successful at rebuilding the team as the Orioles of the 1970s were.

This is why, in my opinion, they should have continued playing Strasburg last year, however the attitude that we heard from the people in that organization was, thats fine, well shut him down, well be back next year.
I feel bad for the players that were on that team that continued to bust thier but for them when they New management had thrown in the towel, many of those players have never made the playoffs and possibly never will.

Had I been a Nats fan I would have been furious.

A rod will be suspended for this year and the rest of next according to MLB Net.

What do they say about the rest of the guys ?

I hope they decide to let teams know quick, seeing the trade deadline is this week.

They'll probably announce it tomorrow or Tuesday. They didn't want to bring bad news on HOF induction day.
