MLB 2013 Season

Now he gets the summer off... not really a bad deal.

Just read A-Rod will get it worst from MLB because he tried to negotiate a deal with 'em.

Oh, I think Braun negotiated with MLB as well, or his Agent did.
A Rod will do the same to be suspended as little as possible .
A Rods been out all year anyway, so the rest of the year won't really hurt ... I mean it won't be any different than they have been going with so far.

So, what do you guys think will happen with the rest of the guys, they are not all guilty of using from what the reports are, some were aquantances, some were discussing, discussing doesn't make you guilty, if not proven to have used them, can they really suspend you ?

I know one person who won't be suspended, Milky Cabrera. He was already suspended for this.

I turned on the Dodgers game and I thought I was watching a football game by the score.

I think even if you were negotiating then you should get some sort of suspension. Maybe 2 weeks?

Each case will be taken on its own merits, they won't be lumped together....

I wouldn't bet the ranch on this one just yet. There's a chance Melky's could be considered a separate incident.

Melky Cabrera, Colon, and Grandal have all already served suspensions for violations of the league's drug policy. Is this kind of double penalty covered anywhere in the Joint Drug Agreement? If not, on what grounds would the league propose to have a double penalty (i.e., 100 games for first-time offenders rather than 50) stick?

This strategy could also become problematic. As Thurm explains, unless authenticated and verified Biogenesis documents link a previously suspended player to use, possession, sale, or distribution of PEDs separate from the drugs that had triggered earlier positive tests, a second suspension could amount to a second punishment for the same, initial violation. If MLB were to adopt the A-Rod–and–Braun approach, it could seek both the PED-use penalty and the lying penalty against Cabrera, Colon, and Grandal. All three have already been suspended once, and two more suspensions would equal three, which, according to MLB's drug policy, would trigger a lifetime ban. Since it's not at all clear if Cabrera, Colon, and Grandal violated the league's policy in an incident separate from the one for which they've already been nailed, there's an absurd scenario by which they could be forever stripped of their ability to play in the majors as a result of, essentially, a single transgression.

I don't know much about Braun, because he is in "the other league", playing on a team that gets little national attention, but I see that in March of 2008, he signed a $50 million contract through 2015 against the advice of his agent, yet he is presently under contract through 2020 that will get him about $80 to $90 million more than that, so subsequent to his 2008 signing, there was a substantial, negotiated extension.

When he signed the bargain basement, $50+ million contract, he said that there was really nothing that he'd ever want in life that he couldn't buy with that much money, but in fact, there was. There was an MVP award in 2011 and a second place MVP finish in 2012. That might mean more to him than the extra $80 to $90 million.

Braun must have looked ahead and saw all of the money he's due in the future and decided he'll take the 65 days and consider himself lucky....

The Dodgers are in first place. They were dead last in the division as late as when the NBA Finals were still going on.

Yep. In 4 weeks they went from 9.5 games out and in last place, to first place leaping over all of the other teams.

The Angels don't have the pitching. I never thought they would be that good.

More importantly the main reason the Dodgers are in first is because the rest of the division went into a huge slump at the same time the Dodgers got hot. If the Dodgers were in the AL West, they would still be 7 games out of first.

not to picky but, i can't understand why the Reds are playing a home game in SF today, to make up a rain out in Cincinnati

I don't understand it either, in fact I am pissed. If they need to play at the Reds then play at the end of the season.

With the Ryan Braun situation, if I were the Brewers I would find some way to void his contract. How can they know he will perform now to hold up what they thought he had earned? They should be allowed to void his contract. They even mentioned it on the Baseball Tonight podcast with Buster Olney, Jason Starks is the one who mentioned it and I agree.

you can't void contract because of Steroid! that what people don't understand its under the CBA, you can only suspended them,

They could change that in the next agreement.
