MLB 2013 Season

First time he has ever come up with the bases loaded and he hits a line drive grandslam to the opposite field.

In four career games he is batting .438, 3 HRs, and 9 RBIs, while batting leadoff.

Pitchers already found Puig's weakness, the breaking ball. He swings at them, but cannot hit them.

Lets see what he's doing in a month or two before we call him the next great ...

Or is he this years Trout, thats superior to Cabrera already in his 2 week career ?

Hopefully he sparks the team because they definitely need it, but lets be realistic, give it time and then see whats happening.

Yeah. Anybody can start out great, but it is what they do in the long run that really matters.

Completely agree. But he is starting even better than most thought, is bringing new life to this dead team, and it is exciting to watch at the moment.

The thing is, two days ago he went 0 for 4 with a couple of Ks as he was swinging at breaking balls in the dirt. I thought they found his hole. Last night he laid off those balls in the dirt and hit a shin high curve ball for a single in his first at bat. And he came up with so much expectation and so much hype. It is so difficult for someone to succeed when they are expecting them to be great, and he is doing even more than they expected.

When your team's not doing well, you start looking for anything to keep your interest. I think we've all done the same...

I still remember when Manny Ramirez seemed to single-handedly carry the Dodgers to the play-offs when he was traded to them. Too bad he reverted back to "just being Manny" the next season & afterwards.

He was caught with PEDs the next season. He was actually doing well up until then.

ETA: The PEDs may have been two years later.

TRUE! Scully was absolutely beautiful in calling that Grand Slam. He was as excited as a 10 year old kid when it happened. Then he just shut up and let the sounds and the picture do all the talking. He said later that he's learned thru the years there are certain moments when it is best to do just that and Puig's salami was just that type of moment. TOUCHING!

Even more amazing is what he is doing to the Dodgers dugout with his youthful enthusiasm. All of the players suddenly have life back in them. They now appear to want to win and enjoy the game.

The Blue Jays are starting to approach 'I'll believe them to be a playoff team when I see it' team. Every year, we seem to think this is their year to make it to October- and they don't. I had liked them to make it the last few years- and they haven't. They look good on paper, but they have to at some point talk the talk.

He has the HR cycle in the 5 games he has played.

1 solo shot
1 two run shot
1 three run shot
1 grand slam

Two of those HRs tied the game late and all 4 have come 6th inning or later.

He just tied the MLB record for most RBIs in the first five career games played. And he has done so bating lead off.

He also becomes the first player ever in Dodgers history to hit 4 HRs in his first 5 games played.

A five day rookie comes up in the 8th with a guy at 3rd and two outs, and they intentionally walk him.

What does that say about what the other teams think of Puig?

It's clearing here, so it looks like the Angels and Red Sox will get in their day-night doubleheader. I had some serious doubt they were gonna get in the day portion, late last night.
