MLB 2013-2014 off-season moves

I'll say one thing, there won't be a lot of balls getting through that cavernous left-center gap in Yankee Stadium, with Gardner and Ellsbury! OTOH, that's two very weak arms out there.

Well, theres another outfielder off the market ... starting to think the Tigers may be going into price cutting mode and going with who they have .... I hope I'm wrong ... they still need Bull pen help ... now that they have Joe Nathan, I would resign Benoit to a 1-2 year deal and have him back in the 8th, but I don't think thats happening .

Gardner's arm is a lot better than you think, if you think it's very weak. It's no cannon, but definitely above average and accurate. He's improved quite a bit in the last couple of years.

Choo is still out there. I hope the Reds can convince him to stay.

Jacoby is a very versatile player who can play 2 positions. OF & DL:D

It's very strange, this is the total opposite of Damon leaving, I have yet to hear any fans that upset about him going to the Yankees.

World Series hangover! :)

I think that's a part of it, but I think the biggest reason is the Carl Crawford contract that the Sox got burned on. Personally, I do think Ellsbury's contract is excessive, but not CC excessive.

Tigers GM, Dave Dombrowski said today that the Tigers are NOT in the running for a LF at this time.

IF thats the case, they better continue thier push to get some bull pen help other than the two guys the Nats threw in, in the Fister steal.

Btw, I have learned that Dombrowski usually says NOTHING before a trade, so keep your eyes and ears open, something could be right around the corner.

Here's hoping they resign Benoit, he'll go back to his Set Up role that he was VERY good at ... (also did very well at the Closer job too.)

Maybe Kinsler will play LF and Hernan Perez will play 2nd base, he's the young stud they are waiting on.

IF, thats the case, I can't imagine a rookie at 2b and 3b (Castellonios) in one line up

Brian Wilson signs a 2Y/$19M deal with the Dodgers. Technically, it's a 1Y/$10M contract with a $9M second year player option.
Good signing for the Dodgers. He was one of the key players I was hoping they would resign. Now they have their 8th inning setup guy for their closer, Jansen.

...not crazy...that's insane for the M's.

If the Yankees paid him that much I would not necessarily call it crazy or insane. They have a deeper payroll and can afford it without it affecting the signing of other players like it does Seattle, and Cano will put up better numbers in NY.

Cano will not come close to being the same player in Seattle. Ask Beltre. The ball does not carry their like it does in NY and he won't have the lineup protection. The M's are spending too much on one player that will not help as much as they think. They would be wiser building a deeper lineup with average to above average players for the same money.

If the M's already had a descent lineup and a deeper payroll, then I can understand overpaying Cano to compliment what they have.

So his talking with the Tigers, (it sounded like he really didn't have any interest in the Tigers) was just to drive up his offer from the Dodgers ?
With the Tigers he would have been their closer. With the Dodgers he will only be in the setup role.
