James Shields in a righty, and this would be a steal for the Marlins. I just couldn't see a player like Ramirez, playing for Joe Maddon.

I could have sworn he was a lefty. I think they need to keep him simply because his trade value, based on last years performance, is at his lowest it has ever been.

Tom Hicks gave A-Rod a huge contract, and a few years later he filed for bankruptcy. I'm hoping for the best, becuase I would love to see the Marlins leave the Mets in the dust.

Why, with all the sudden money they have, are the Marlins NOT going after Prince Fielder?

I mean you can get him for less years and WAY less money than Pujols. 6 years, $120 million a year for a animal of a MUCH NEEDED left handed home run hitter...and he is there...

Because he wants a no trade claus the marlins have a policy of not offering that. It was the sticking point with Pujols.

Braun just tested positive for PHD. I wonder if they will strip him of his MVP and give it to the guy who should have gotten it anyway?

I was posting from my phone so I didn't see that thread.

The MVP should have gone to Kemp to begin with.

From Nick Cafardo in todays Boston.com:

"Lackey's five-year, $82.5 million deal has essentially become a six-year, $83 million deal because of his Tommy John surgery. Former team physician Thomas Gill had the team put a clause in Lackey's contract that said if he had that surgery, the Sox could add a sixth year at the minimum salary. Suddenly, Lackey's average annual salary will go from $16.5 million to about $13.8 million."

First I'd heard this. If he fully or substantially recovers, why would he play a year at age 36 for half a million? Why not just play chicken and retire for a year? The only way this works out for the Red Sox is if the remaining years of the prolonged contract are averaged, rather than augmented.

They will probably have him play first base then.

This means their team will be an all right handed power hitting team.

BUT, if they can sort the Braun mess where he is not suspended(don't know how that will happen)...and with Pujols gone..IF the Cubs do not sign Fielder, the Brewers should have no problems winning the Central.

I mean I LIKE the Reds alot...AND losing Fielder is a huge blow, but I still think they are the better team.

Are you saying that losing a 27 yr old power hitter and replaces him with a 33 yr old one makes the team better ?
