MLB 2011 Season

Honestly Beckett shares a lot of the blame for this. 30 seconds in between pitches is ridiculous, and than add that to guys like Jeter and Cano who constantly step out of the box. But, it has been like this for 7-8 years with these 2 teams, so you kind of get used to it.

MLB did the Red Sox no favors by scheduling this game on a Sunday Night, when they start a road trip the next day.

Yeah, Beckett was picthing ridiculously slowly last night...it was almost a joke. Guys were stepping out of the box just to have something to do during the down time.

That said, guys stepping out of the box has always been an issue with these two teams, and I think the worst culprit was my favorite player, Bernie Williams. Jeez he had to make 14 adjustments after just about every pitch. Nomar and his incessant wrist snapping, Ortiz, Cano, and a whole host of others share in the blame.

But last night Beckett went above and beyond!

Either ESPN's "K-Zone" is off tonight or that home plate umpire is having one of the worst nights I've ever seen.

I think he can do a passable job batting clean-up. I think he looked bad on so many swings in that last at bat because he had to cover they "gray zones" created by the umpires inconsistent strike zone.

Pedroia is not in any way, shape, or form, a cleanup hitter

Have you ever seen him bat there before tonight?

Pedroia cleaning up out of the fourth spot

Maybe Terry Francona should start kicking the unconventional idea around a little bit more after Pedroia’s ten appearances in the cleanup slot have yielded a .559 batting average (19-for-34) with 11 runs, 10 RBI, 10 extra base hits and four home runs over the course of his career.

Sandwiched between two of the best hitters in the league will make anyone a good hitter

He's a great player that could hit anywhere in a lineup.

*Notable stat: Following this 3 game series against Detroit, the Indians will have played TEN consecutive games against 1st place teams (4 @ Boston, 3 @ Texas, 3 vs. Tigers)! Talk about a tough stretch!!

I get Gonzo (who I think is in the top 5 MLB players), but you're saying that Pedroia is a "good" hitter because he hits behind Ellsbury??

No doubt, Ellsbury is having a breakout season, but Pedroia has been doing this for FIVE years now. If anything, Ellsbury is lucky to be hitting in front of two GREAT hitters!

As of this moment, Seattle is 6 for 11 against Lackey. That's .545! How long can they keep him in their rotation?
