MLB 2011 Season

The actual attendance is much lower for a few reasons. Many are protesting McCourt and refuse to show up. Also many season ticket holders are afraid to give away or sale their tickets because if those people get caught doing something wrong, then the season ticket holder will lose all of their tickets or the rest of the year

You mean they can't sell individual tickets to other people? That is stupid.

They can. If those other people are involved in bad activity, then the season ticket owners lose their tickets

The Patriots have the same policy, I never sell/give my tickets to anyone I don't know and trust. I'm not losing my tickets just to make a few bucks.

My bold prediction,Jose Reyes will end up with the Boston Red Sox. Anyway, watching the Yankees & the Mets right now. Was watching the Blue Jays & Phillies earlier,6 ft. 10in. Blue Jay Pitcher Jon Rauch had to be dragged away by his manager after being thrown out of the game by the ump.

That is a very interesting thought, seeing the Sox have been looking for a SS for quite some time now.

Trivia question #1: Who presently leads the majors in slugging percentage?

Answer: Yamaico Navarro, with a slugging percentage of 4.000 (One homer in one at bat)

Trivia question #2: Who in hell is Yamaico Navarro?

I should amend that statement to read either through trade or free agency. I at first thought that Jose Reyes might would go to the Yankees(& they could make Derek Jeter the DH),but I wonder how much he'd be willing to trim his locks to conform to the New York Yankee "Grooming Standards." That's why I thought that he'd go to the Red Sox.

I doubt that the Yanks would use Jeter as a DH.... he's hitting .260 and the team generally has PLENTY of DH's.

If the pirates want to contend they need a power bat.

An article I read in the Washington Post today leads me to believe that they might not want to contend yet... that they are in year 4 of a 6 to 8 year plan and might decide it is better to sell than to buy.

As a New Englander, it is hard for me to fathom a team being on a 6 to 8 year plan. In Boston and New York, if a team goes 6 to 8 weeks without winning, then the fan base begins to revolt.

Speaking of "Grooming Standards",do the Cincinnati Reds still have the same grooming standards that they had in the days of Johnny Bench,Pete Rose,Joe Morgan,& Tony Perez(short hair,no facial hair,or at least no beards,& low stirrup socks)?

No. They changed that after Marge Schott gave up control of the team.

After one promising outing, John Lackey gave up seven runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings today. The Red Sox could fill his spot in the rotation with Millwood, Dubront or Aceves, and surely will.

Hell, I could fill his spot for 1% of his salary (roughly $160,000 per) and SUCK just as much!

Seems longer than that even. That's why I'm enjoying this year. Hurdle has the Buccos playing damn good ball and PNC selling out more often. It's nice to see the Pirates stay competitive and not be completely out of contention come all-star break. The fact that Andrew McCutchen didn't make the NL all-star team shows how big a joke the voting process is. I'm actually looking forward to the second half of the MLB season. :)

And happy 4th of July to all of you! :usa2:
