Ortiz just earned himself a week long suspension. Totally uncalled for.

Well, not totally uncalled for. I now see the replay of the pitcher taunting him.

Agreed, but he should have kept his cool.

Too bad this didn't happen when they didn't need a DH in the NL parks.

Papi is VERY lucky that left didn't connect to Gregg's face!

Report on Beckett: MILD hyperextension to left knee. Tito said he could have stayed in, but was pulled due to the wet mound conditions.

Hopefully Beckett skips the ASG. With the Sox coming back from the break next Friday in Tampa, Josh could conceivably get 9/10 days rest. I can now see Miller/Wakefield/Lackey starting the three game series next weekend against the Rays.

Great win for the pirates, they could actually be in first place come morning time.

Missed the Red Sox game because I was traveling. Just watched it this morning. The Pitcher was trying to hit Ortiz and everyone knew it. And the taunting was uncalled for . And what's up with the Security Guy getting involved with the fight? He was the guy with the blue jacket on . It said Security on the back of his jacket. His job was to keep an eye out for the crowd . I saw another guy dressed the same way looking at the crowd making sure no fan tried to jump on the field. But the other guy was right out with the Red Sox players trying to break it up. I've got a feeling he might be in trouble with his job. If you've ever gone to a game and a fight breaks out you always feel great after a game. I always like to look at the fans reaction during a fight.

There's one angle where you can see an arm reach out and pull that security guy away. I agree that there is probably an opening in the Fenway security detail this morning.

One thing I've been wondering is why doesn't MLB have automatic ejections for players leaving the dugout and 'third man in' like other sports do?? It's kinda funny to watch the bullpens sprint in side-by-side then engage when they get to the infield, but wouldn't it save time and lots of potential injuries if the extra players were kept out of it??

The Brewers won so the Pirates are a game out.
The Pirates have played 2 games less than the Brewers...could be in a first place tie! But, I'm happy where they're at.

That was a great game last night! Good to see the crowds so enthusiastic again. Hope they can play as well the next half. :)

Couple of things... On the local scene, the Marlins won their 3rd straight and 8 out of the last 11 to hopefully wake their a$$e$ out of last place.

On a MLB scale, A-Rod was diagnosed with a slight tear in his knee, ESPN reports he can either man-up or go for surgery and miss about a month.

Wow! What a way to get your 3,000th hit. On a HR. Congrats to Jeter

Or he can wait for the meniscus tear to heal on it's own, when I had mine, it was very painful and took just as long, but I didn't have the access to the doctors and therapy he has.

The Red Sox go into the ASB at 55-35 (53-25 since the 2-10 start).

53-25 projects to 110-52 over a full season, a near record pace which is remarkable when you consider that they get NOTHING out of right field, that left fielder Crawford hit about .200 for the first two months of the season and then got injured once he started hitting, that they lost their shortstop Lowrie to injury, and every starting pitcher has missed starts, with one lost for the season and with most of us wishing another one was also. And closer Papelbon's ERA is still over 4 runs per 9 innings pitched!!

Among the pleasant surprises is the fact that the offensive output at catcher is actually somewhat above the league average, currently projecting to 20 homers, 80 RBI and 76 runs scored.
