200-1?! Who would've thought?

In January, my old man went to Vegas. Before leaving and well before the season, he put down a bet on the Cleveland Indians to WIN the World Series. (He's an even bigger homer than me, lol!)

His odds, 200-1. (Second worst odds only to Pittsburgh). He put down $50. Meaning, if he wins, he'd get $10k. At the time I laughed. Now? Who knows. It's still a long season, but that bet is looking better and better every day!!! :)

I tell you what Sabres. Acta ball is working awesomely here in the AL! Situational hitting, great defense, late inning adjustments. Acta seems to be making all the right calls right now. So much more compelling watch him call the game as opposed to Wedgie. I will say that. Two completely different characters. Wedge was a grinder and playing it safe. Acta is about taking chance and listening to his players suggestions. All in all, if anything, it's lead to great team chemistry!

Earl Weaver would often say, you're never as smart as you look like you are when you're winning, and you're never as dumb as you look like you are when you're losing. Acta had no solutions in Washington, where his team finished last two years and next to last the other year, and he finished last with Cleveland last year. I remember the Milwaukee Brewers winning a slew of games in April and May one year but then declined to their natural level. I expect the same thing to happen in Cleveland.

Asdrubal Cabrera

Ok, world. It's time to get familiar with the best shortstop in the American League. And quite possibly all of baseball. His name isn't Jeter. He doesn't hail from Boston either. His name? It's not a household name like the others. He is, the Venezuelan born Asdrubal Cabrera. And when I tell you this, keep in mind I had the privledge of watching Omar Vizquel play night in and night out during his prime. I know what I'm looking for in shortstops and this Cabrera is IT. But with a better bat than Omar!

It's time to start paying attention baseball fans. If Cabrera isn't voted in as an AL starter, it would be absolutely criminal!

Thanks Debbie Downer. You're always such a ray of sunshine to these forums. :(

How long had he been the starting SS for the Indians?

VERY impressive player, kudos to him and the Indians............but I'm not exactly sure what this means :

I don't ever remember anyone claiming that about Lowrie or Scuturo.

Now if we're talking about 1st baseman, well maybe the one is Boston just might be the best.

What oh What are the yankees gonna do when Texeria doesn't make the ASG.

AL 1B should go to M. Cabrera (Tigers) and A. Gonzalez (Red Sox)

Unless the yankees fans stuff the ballot box , then a deserving 1B won't be going.

The AL is LOADED with MVP-caliber first basemen...........Morneau, Teixera, Cabrera and Gonzalez just to name a few.

I know that it is NO LAUGHING MATTER,but I was just watching The Weather Channel & they were describing a possible tornado going through the dallas-Ft. Worth area, especially going through Arlington. So I checked the ScoreGuide on DIRECTV & it showed that the White Sox-Rangers game was in a "rain delay(my reaction was "no s*** Sherlock)." Actually, they just announced on CNN's Anderson360 that Rangers Ballpark had to be evacuated because of the coming storms. This weather is so crazy. Tornadoes hit Oklahoma City & may just as well hit Dallas & you have the Western NBA Finals going on between the Dallas Mavericks & Oklahoma City Thunder.

VERY scary indeed..........I hope everyone stays safe in those areas. :(

They were showing on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago the fans being evacuated from the stands to safety areas, even showed fans running across the field towards shelter with hail coming down. That is an interesting question, does Ranger's Ballpark have storm shelters or basements?

The much maligned Saltalamacchia has gone 10 for 31 (.322) with four homers and eight RBI in the nine games he has played in the last two weeks.

Wow what a long game the Reds played. 19 innings, too bad they lost.
