No...Manager. The pitching decisions are Torre, not Huneycut.

Heck, anyone here can manage a pitching staff better than Torre.

I beg to differ my friend! The TRUE arm killer is the one residing in Cincinnati... Dusty "I have destroyed more arms than anyone" Baker. Shall I read the IMMEDATE list?

Mark Pryor
Kerry Wood
Edison Volquez
Johnny Cueto

And those are the recent guys I know off my head, I am sure there are PLENTY when he managed the Giants. Right now, outside of the Marlins, the Reds have one best young impressive pitching staffs in the Majors. BUT, I am afraid with Dusty's track record, who knows WHAT will happen to these pitchers.:(

Coghlan headed to DL with knee injury

Associated Press

SAN FRANCISCO -- Chris Coghlan is the latest player to become seriously injured while celebrating.

The Florida Marlins left fielder is headed for the disabled list with a torn meniscus in his left knee and might need surgery.

Emotions get the best of you, you're excited. There's nothing wrong with that but be a little smarter when you're celebrating a win.

The reigning NL Rookie of the Year's injury was revealed in an MRI exam Monday. He was hurt Sunday while delivering a pie in the face to teammate Wes Helms following the pinch hitter's bases-loaded single in the 11th inning of a 5-4 win over Atlanta on Sunday. There will be no more such celebratory antics by Florida, manager Edwin Rodriguez said.

I feel for him, I know all about the pain he's in.
I had a torn meniscus in my right knee a few years back and one in the left knee a few weeks ago.

Unbearable pain when trying to move it, forget about getting up to move around.

Both times mine has been better in a week or two as far as being able to walk on it. It will be interesting to see how long he's out for.

Strasburg unable to get loose in bullpen

WASHINGTON -- Rookie sensation Stephen Strasburg was scratched from his scheduled start for the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night because he had problems warming up his prized and powerful right arm before the game against the Atlanta Braves.

"Stephen was having trouble getting loose in the bullpen, and so I pulled the plug on it," Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said, adding that he considered it a "precautionary move."

"There's no shooting pains or anything like that in his shoulder or elbow," Rizzo said.

Strasburg was being examined Tuesday by a team doctor and "appropriate tests will be taken after that," including possibly an MRI or X-ray, the GM said, listing the Nationals' top pitcher's status as day to day. In nine starts for Washington, Strasburg is 5-2 with a 2.32 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 15 walks in 54 1/3 innings. He has won his past three starts....

The GM said Strasburg, who turned 22 on July 20, showed no signs of any issues during the time since his last start, a 7-3 victory at Cincinnati last Wednesday. Rizzo said the pitcher was fine while throwing a side session and a "clean" bullpen session, then playing catch Monday.

Smart move by the Nats. They ain't going anywhere and he is the main cog on the pitching staff and the entire franchise right now.

IF it were Dusty Baker, he would have had him thrown a simulated game and then throw the REAL game after, throwing AT LEAST 125+ pitches.

Did I mention HOW MUCH I dislike Dusty "arm killer" Baker...?:rant:

No need to apologize for disagreeing. The sports folder, IMO, unlike the others is supposed to be one of criticizing, rooting, booing, cheering, ex. Just like in sports itself. Often people are too sensitive in this folder.

Bring it on. Tell it like it is. Bash my posts, my team, and my sport. I welcome it, encourage it, and love it. :D

Just don't make it personal against the poster him/herself.

It's not very often I would BASH anyone and I'm certainly not doing it here.

I was just pointing out that I thought Dusty was an even worse manager than Torre as far as pitching goes.

The Dodgers hired Mattingly to coach the Dodgers AZ fall league team, The Phoenix Desert Dogs.

Mattingly to get managerial trial run in AFL | dodgers.com: News

This is just one more step in the confirmation that the very overrated, to soft, and poor pitching staff manager will not be back next year, and Mattingly will be taking over. Thank God. It could not happen any sooner (Actually if they got rid of Torre a couple of years ago, the Dodgers may of won a WS instead of getting knocked out by the Phills two straight years).

I did not mean to imply that you are anyone specific will bash an individual personally. It was more of a general comment stating that I have no problem with people bashing my team or my sport, or even my posts, just don't bash me (or anyone else) on a personal level.

Perhaps. But Dusty is as overrated as Torre is. People talk of Torre like he is Phil Jackson. The dude cannot hold a candle to Alston or Lasorda.

Oh no Dodger...it was not a bashing of YOU or YOUR comments. The Reds are my childhood team, I was drafted out of high school by them. But since that "arm killer" has taken over, I have just refused to watch them. And yet, INSPITE of the that, they are battling for 1st place with a better run team in the Cardinals. And that is difficult for me to say because I recognize that fact that for as much as I think LeRussa is a dirt stain in the underwear of baseball....he is a good manager that KNOWS how to run a pitching staff.

Reminds me of my childhood, although I was never drafted to play anything. :p

I used to go around in 3rd grade naming the entire Dodgers starting lineup with their awesome infield of Cey, Russell, Lopes, and Garvey. IMO, during the 70s, the Dodgers had a bigger rivalry with the Reds than their long time rivals, the Giants
