MLB 2010 Season

It didn't bother anyone when "Reggie" threw his hip at the ball in the World Series, or when he used to pound nails into his bat to make it harder, or when they found that the bat he used to hit three homers in a game against the Red Sox had a flat side to it.

LOL! Funny how 20-30 years ago, that was applauded as 'doing anything to help your team win' ....you hated it whne done to your team.....

Almost lost in the OAK-NYY game with all the A-Rod* crap was the fact that the NYY turned an old-fashioned round-the-horn triple play, their first in 42 years....

Ryan Howard will remain in a Philadelphia Phillies uniform through the 2016 season after agreeing to a five-year extension worth an average of $25 million per year.

The slugging first baseman has agreed to a $125 million extension that will kick in starting with the 2012 season. If Howard reaches incentive clauses and the team picks up its option for the 2017 season, Howard could earn as much as $138 million.

I remember when Pete Rose's hitting streak ended, he was pissed that the pitcher tried to get him out. He said he was entitled to see all fastballs in his last at bat.

-Satchell Page

Ummmm. NO HE DIDN'T.

He said that the pitcher stunk because he was afraid to pitch to him, which he was, he never got a decent pitch all night and ended with a walk or two and the last time up threw him everything away and low , he never had a prayer.

He's spoken more than one time on the subject. I heard him name some specific pitchers who he said he is sure would have thrown him all fastballs, and none of them were named Nolan Ryan

The Dodgers are friggen embarrassing to watch. They are despicable.

Thank God I have EI so I can watch games played at a more professional level

I thought this was funny, but now I see there is truth to is. Did anyone else realize Ryan Howard is 30 years old?

Yeah. He lost all his hair after he left Happy Days.

I remember when Carl Yastrzemski was having his career year in 1967, and he was described as a 27 year old, well seasoned veteran. And Mickey Mantle won the Triple Crown at 25, He was a veteran, too. Now, there are 27 and 28 year olds who we are waiting to break out into the player they are destined to become.

...and here is what he did yesterday:

Stephen Strasburg throws 5 no-hit innings in fourth start for the Harrisburg Senators - ESPN
READING, Pa. -- Stephen Strasburg pitched five no-hit innings in his fourth professional start and drove in the game's only run as the Double-A Harrisburg Senators blanked the Reading Phillies 1-0 Tuesday night.

Strasburg's night
W/L: Win (3-0)
Innings pitched: 5
Batters faced: 16
Hits: 0
Strikeouts: 6
Ground outs: 8
Fly outs: 2

...The San Diego State product retired the first 13 batters he faced in the opener of a doubleheader, striking out six. The only batter to reach base against Strasburg in five innings was Michael Spidale, who struck out swinging in the fifth but advanced to first on a passed ball.

Strasburg, the Washington Nationals' No. 1 pick last summer, threw just 64 pitches as his parent club continues to closely monitor his workload. He improved to 3-0 and lowered his ERA to 0.52. Strasburg has struck out 23 and walked just three through 17.1 innings this year.

Coming soon, to a ballpark near you!
