MLB 2009 Season

Is there any question that the Dodgers are the best team in the NL right now? Maybe even in all of MLB?

...right now....

Although Manny does add significantly to their offense, not only by himself, but he also makes everyone else better, the Dodgers offense is still one of the best in baseball without him. They had, 3-8, six 20+ HR hitters. Now with Manny out, they have 5 20+ HR hitters. If Paul, the rookie they called up to replace him, lives up to his potential (he is reported to be better than both Ethier and Kemp), they may not lose much without Manny.

You are asking ALOT from a player that JUST GOT CALLED UP. It is one thing to expect that from a rookie going into the NEXT season with a whole off season to workout and mentally prepare yourself...it's another to say, "here is the scope, Manny is gone and you have to produce NOW....!" THAT is what you are saying when you said "if he lives up to his potential, they may not lose much without Manny...."

Manny is still the center of that franchise. I expect a significant drop-off over the next 50-games.

Against the Nationals...I could get a starting line-up from the SatelliteGuys sports section and probably score just as many runs....;)
1 less run then they did with Manny and against a better Nationals pitcher. Also 2 more runs than they have averaged at home per game.

Let's not jump the gun on how well or how bad they will do with him. So far, your sample size is ONE GAME....and against the worst pitching staff in the Majors. We shaw see 25 games down the road and re-visit this conversation and see if you are right. I do agree that the division is so bad that they will STILL be either in 1st place or contention when Manny comes back though.....

Anyone notice that the Red Sox had a 12-run NO OUT 6th inning....??!! That is CRAZY..!! The guys on the field must have thought this will never end....:eek:

Yeah I saw that thrashing, should have switched over to STO to watch it.:D

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mentioned this in the AL East thread. Way to kick the donkey when he's down and out. :(

Honestly....I did not know WHO they played until I saw the box score this morning...

Believe me....I don't make an issue about ONE game in MLB because they play 162. The last year the Marlins won the World Series, they lost a game to the Red Sox 26-8...I think they had TWO 9 run innings....

...no big deal....

Chicago White Sox closer Bobby Jenks was fined Tuesday for throwing a pitch behind Texas' Ian Kinsler last weekend.

Major League Baseball imposed the penalty Tuesday. It did not disclose the amount, however a source told ESPNChicago.com that Jenks was fined $750.
Seriously?? I figured it out and that's like fining me $15.

How about those Reds? One game back and 5 games over .500 :D
