MLB 2009 Season

Quick thoughts from Day 1 of Interleague Play:

White Sox did a slightly better job on the mound- zero runs allowed a day after giving up 20 to the Twins.:D

Speaking of Minnesota, they scored 11 runs in a rout of Milwaukee featuring Michael Cuddyer hitting for the cycle. This team has been en fuego since Mauer returned!

Toronto loses 1-0 to the Braves- Is it time to say the Blue Jays' hot start was a mirage, or should we give it some more time?

Phillies and Yankees combine for seven homers- honestly, I think anyone on this site could hit a homer in the new Yankee Stadium. If Matt took batting practice there, he'd look like Josh Hamilton did in the HR Derby.

What the Indians and Red Sox have done in that stadium is the norm, not the exception. It's a homer-happy ballpark, and homers make me happy!:D:)

3-1 Angels tonight over the Best team in the MLB.. Dodgers
Thanks to a bad call by the ump in the 1st (which robbed the Dodgers of at least 2 runs) and some damn good defensive plays by the Angels.

If Pierre as save at first on the pick off (which he was), the Dodgers score at least 2 runs in the 1st (one on Hudson singles - would have scored Pierre, and one on Martin's fly ball - would have been a sac fly instead of the 3rd out).

Well, your pitcher was having problems in the first couple innings, too. I could sure tha the is BRUTAL when his game is on, tho. Really enjoyed the Angels Suck chants....typical Dodger Stadium...

Ahh, the Dodgers-Angels rivalry is more tongue-in-cheek than anything. There's no real history of animosity here.

Salsa... I don't know what to say about what happened to the Marlins tonight.

15-2- ouch.

And it continues Sabres....Marlins management took a HUGE gamble trading away some power and not picking up a closer and more bullpen help, thinking they had acquired better fielding and small ball potential. Now, with major injuries to 3 starting pitching and almost a season long slump by the middle of the order....things are not good. There are some guys that will more than likely be called up prematurely....which is never good.

Tommy Lasorda got into a fist fight with someone right out on the field. I can't remember who? Remember the last game at Candlestick they had Tommy go up there and give a speech?? Classic!

Angels are playing some good ball lately- took 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, are only 2.5 games out of first place.

IMO, the series of games from now until the end of Interleague Play could be extremely crucial for the Halos going into the All-Star Break.

Angels took 2 from the Dodgers by sheer luck. The 2nd game of the series was their worst-played offensively.

Either team could have won all three (even in the more lopsided 3rd game). Both teams did bad with runner in scoring position and both teams pitching was OK. It was the defense that shined to save the pitchers, especially the Angels D (Hunter by himself probably saved at least 4 runs during the 3 games).

Going to the Angels game tomorrow without about 20 guys from work. We will all be sitting in right field.
