MLB 2009 Season

If I'm not mistaken, Marmol currently has some health issues.

Yeah....from what I am getting, his issues have been between the ears. He was set to take the closer duty LAST year, but he could not handle some of the pressure and that is why he is still a setup man. That is why the Cubs went ahead and signed Gregg.

WOW...talk about lost opportunities! The Cubs were struggling coming into the series....and the Marlins had taken 2 out of 3 from the Mets and had won 3 straight.

There is an old saying in Latin America, "despues del error, viene el palo....!" Which means, "after the error ALWAYS comes the bomb.....". Which is so true! Friday's game,
2 two out walks and an error...BOOM!!! Grand Slam....Marlins loose! Yesterday, same thing....two out error in leftfield to load the bases....BAM! Grand Slam....Marlins lose!

Manny: No Place Like Home

The June issue of Playboy magazine (on newsstands May 15) features 20 questions with baseball super-agent Scott Boras.

In the article, he discusses his clients Alex Rodriguez and Manny Ramirez. Boras refused to answer questions about Rodriguez and steroids.

But Boras did shed some light on Ramirez's appreciation of the city of Cleveland compared to Boston.

Playboy: Manny Ramirez made himself such a distraction for the Red Sox last year that they traded him to L.A., where he led the Dodgers to the playoffs. Why did he want out of Boston?

Boras:
Manny enjoyed his Red Sox teammates and loved the organization, but he did not enjoy living in Boston. It wore him out. He wasn't comfortable. It wasn't like Cleveland.

Playboy:
He wanted out because Boston isn't like Cleveland?

Boras: [Nodding] For Manny, environment is important. He had liked living in the Cleveland suburbs. I said, "Manny, I want you to play in L.A. They've got some really good young hitters, but they need a slugger, and Pasadena's a lot like those Cleveland suburbs." He had been to L.A. only three times in his life, but once we got him there he said, "This is the spot for me."

Now, THAT is funny. The first bolded quote shows who really makes the decisions in the Bora$ client world. As for the second quote, how many tall palm trees are there in the Cleveland suburbs??

Consider the source.

I've been to both and there ain't NUTHIN' in the Cleveland suburbs that resembles Pasadena, CA!!!!!

Manny wants to go back to Cleveland:
"I would like to play for Cleveland one more time, to go back where I started," Ramirez told USA Today. "I have so many good memories there, why not?

Manny wants to stay in L.A.
Day 1 was hectic. Now that the storm has passed, Manny Ramirez has decided that he wants to end his career as a professional baseball player in sunny L.A.

"I like this city, the environment, the energy in the fans. I think that I'll play here for the remainder of my career," Ramirez said in an exclusive interview with ESPNdeportes.com.

Manny wants to stay in Boston
"Forget about the trade," he said. "This is the place I want to be."

"I think he saw the best of Boston in about a 10-minute span," Francona said. "I think anyone would want to be here. It's hard not to get chills when that stuff is happening. That was one of the most exciting baseball atmospheres you'll ever see."

Before the game, when he was asked about whether the prospect of a trade was affecting his behavior, Ramirez said, "No way. I'm strong. I'm just here to play and win."
MANNY HAPPY RETURNS. Ramirez not dealt, wins game for Sox

I am starting to see an ugly trend on the Marlins after last night. ALOT of wasted outs. I have never really been a batting average guy. More of a slugger percentage, OBP and things of that nature. The Marlins last year SUPPOSEDLY cleaned house with high strikeout guys and wanted more defense and better OBP. THAT has not been happening. Last night, I got my 1st glimpse of the Volquez.....and damn he is the real deal! I just hope that a$$***** Dusty "The Arm Killer" Baker does not do to him and Cueto what he did to Wood and Prior in Chicago.

Is there any question that the Dodgers are the best team in the NL right now? Maybe even in all of MLB?

...right now....

KCK, with the recent Manny news, I think it's safe to say the Dodgers better enjoy their success now, because it's all downhill from here. :(
