MLB 2009 Season

I've been watching a little of the Toronto-minnesota game on MLBN.

The Jays are ahead, 9-2 top of the 9th behind Roy Halladay.

Halladay will be 3-0 after 3 starts.

IF the Blue Jays fall out of the race, as expected by the end of July, Mr. Halladay will be the most sought after player in recent trade deadline memory.................JMO.

I have great respect for Roy Halladay. All those years in Toronto and being on some pretty miserable teams, yet I've never heard him once complain.

Also, when discussing the games best pitchers, Halladay is often forgotten. To me, he's one of the best out there today.

I know...HD loves him, but I think this new contract will show he was out for the bucks and has no desire to be a real contributor to the team.

"I GOT MINE!!!"

Just another $$$$$ grabber.

Yeah, he's nothing but a paycheck player....oops, I thought you were talking about teixeira.....

Break Up the Padres!

7-3 overall, 6-1 in the last seven games, with a sweep over the Giants and a winning series over the Mets in NYC! Tied with the Dodgers for the NL West lead.

The new closer, Heath Bell, who replaced Trevor Hoffman this season, is 5-0 in save opportunities.

If they can split or take the series with Philly over the weekend, I'm jumping on the Padres bandwagon with both feet!

Um...what will you do when they inevitably trade Peavy away? Find another bandwagon?

This reminds me of the stories of the old Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee!

For years, the Renaissance Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg has been the hotel for teams visiting the Rays. For even longer, stories have persisted that the hotel is haunted. There's the one about former Reds reliever Scott Williamson awaking to see a mysterious undertaker-looking man in his room, then having an entity hold him down by his chest so he couldn't breathe -- only to find out the next day that the hotel once was owned by a man named Williamson who died in the Vinoy in the 1920s. Or the one about Pirates strength coordinator Frank Velasquez waking up in the middle of the night to see a blue-eyed man standing in front of his desk, wearing clothing from a much earlier era. Or the one about the woman who was murdered in Room 521 and has been seen roaming the fifth floor by numerous workers and visitors. The stories go on and on, to the point where more than a handful of players and coaches won't even stay at the hotel. Former Sox third baseman Joe Crede and a few other teammates told those ghost stories to Anderson and Quentin last season on the bus ride to the Vinoy, and by the time they arrived, the two decided they should be roomies for the series. -- Chicago Sun-Times

Yikes! This reminds me of the Movie/Book by Stephen King.... It's quite the thriller about this very subject.

Heard Buster Onley today talk about , IF the Tigers fall out of the race, they will look to save money and trade Cabrera, the Red Sox were mentioned as the top choice as they have plenty of cap room and money I guess.
They were discussing how long the Sox would wait on Big Papi if he doesn't start hitting like they are use to, and that Cabrera would fit the bill.

First, I like Buster but ...
Isn't it a WEEEEE bit soon to be calling for a team to be out of it and for players to be sought after.

I expect the Tigers to be in this for the long haul this year .
Even if they are out of it, they would be incredibly stupid to trade Cabrera, he's just now coming into his own and is a top notch hitter.

I would but him in the Pulios category.

Jimbo

I heard the same thing a couple of weeks ago Jimbo, but I wouldn't worry.

1. The Tigers ARE in it for the long haul.

2. The Red Sox would have to give up a boatload of prospects, and they've been very reluctant to do that lately (one example is Johan Santana last winter).

Sometimes, the best trades are those that don't get made.

Yup. The Twins wanted Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, Jacoby Ellsbury and Jed Lowrie.:eek:

The Red Sox were willing to give them EITHER Lester or Buchholz, Lowrie, and Coco Crisp instead of Ellsbury.

Had to happen sooner or later.

He is lower than whale s%^t in the ocean!

Here is a scumbag who has given up on every single team on which he has been a player. And that is a documented fact.

He rode thru L.A. like wildfire. Preaching God and love and all of his bullsH&t only to turn the Dodgers upside down by demanding a trade out of nowhere in Spring Training. And what he did to Torre was unthinkable.

Sh&t is Sh&t no matter how you spell...or SMELL...it!

He is scum! PERIOD!

Make it 20 runs for Cleveland- and it's only the fith inning!:eek:

Cleveland has flat-out owned New York head-to-head in sports this year.

Consider:

Cavs swept the Knicks, including LeBron's 50+ game

Browns beat the Giants on Monday Night Football

Indians crushed the Yanks in the new stadium opener

Indians crushing the Yankees in their new stadium AGAIN

This HAS to be one of HD's best days ever.
