MLB 2009 Season

I'll tell you what, Bill. Looking back at it now as this fog is beginning to thin a bit...Beckett may have just done the Angels the biggest favor anyone could have done for them. A way to let it all go and let go of pent up anger and emotions. That whole thing rolled through the stadium like a 6.5 earthquake...and then there were the aftershocks. Everyone who was an Angels fan or staff member or (especially) player NEEDED to let go of all that had been buliding since 12:20AM Friday morning.

I have never seen Mike so angry for such a long period of time. I truly feel Country Joe saw this and was content to let that second wave of bench-clearing to occur. He never stands for that!

The feeling in that stadium was something I've never experienced before. It was a full house filled with emotions from both Angels and Sox fans. It was ROCKIN'!

Suspensions, etc. aside the Angels got the win and took the series. It was a necessary victory for all in Anaheim red.

The best thing that could have happened is that now the team is on the road for 7 days. I am sure there will be bonding unlike anyone on that team has ever seen before. We'll see how these next few weeks play out.

The Angels may very well be giving Beckett a big "thank you" next time they see him. ;)

A very classy way of looking at it, but coming from YOU that doesn't surprise me! :)

What really irked me about the Beckett-Abreau thing is the fact that Beckett has been the most outraged, from the dugout, when Joba throws at Youkilis' head. Either Beckett is the biggest hypocrite out there, or Abreau was somehow involved in the Joba-Youk ongoing soap opera.

EITHER WAY, there is NO excuse for what Beckett did on Sunday.

I was proud of my team on Friday night for showing Nick and the Angels their due respect. But then Beckett goes out there two days later and pulls that crap on a team going through all kinds of emotional hell....... I don't mind telling you, I was very uncomfortable as a Red Sox fan on Sunday afternoon. :o

That is what I have heard, so whatever it is done and over with. It happened and it is over with, he will appeal the suspension take it when it is convenient. They will call up Bulcholz and he will make the start.

What happened to their pitcher is of no affect to our team and I certainly hope they didn't go out there to take it easy on the Angels, that wouldn't be professional.

As for rallying the Angels, I doubt it, if not for Lowell letting Shields of the hook on ball 3 it probably would of been a different outcome, but it wasn't.

Your right about Beckett's action not being cool, but it it is no more or less because of what the Angels are "going through"

BTW, Torri Hunter is a punk, a little for this incident, but mostly for his ignorant comments about the city of Boston.

Do you mean that Abreau was involved in the Joba-Youk saga?

Not only are they off to a 2-6 start, it's a very ugly 2-6 start!

Consider:

* Jed Lowrie may need season ending surgery on his left wrist

* David Ortiz AND Mike Lowell both look like they've had it (hopefully they'll turn it around)

* Jacoby Ellsbury has yet to hit ML pitching consistently

* Dice-K has had two horrid starts and may now have arm problems

* Jon Lester has had two subpar starts in a row

With all due respect to the sainted Jackie Robinson...

I would HATE to have to call PBP on any game today. With all those "42's" running around it's gotta be hell figuring out who is who!!! Especially when the teams are not wearing names on the backs of their jerseys.:eek::eek::confused:

I think they put him on the DL yesterday.

Yup they did.

And to make matters worse, Clay Buchholz (the Sox best pitcher during the spring with a sub 1.00 ERA) suffered a groin injury in a minor league game the other day, and John Smoltz is still a few weeks from being ready.

Patience...Patience. Let's just all get thru these days and regroup on Memorial Day and see where we all stand.

So you guys are off to a bad start. We ALL know you're to good to be down for long. Not a Tito team. :up

Very true, but it's the lineup I'm worried about....not the pitching.

Question: Should it or Shouldn't it Count?

On MLB Network last night, the studio analysts brought up an interesting topic.

Ryan Ludwick of the St. Louis Cardinals has an ongoing 18-game hitting streak. This dates back to last year as the Cards have played only 7 games this year. One analyst said the streak should start at the beginning and end at the end of every season. If Ludwick approaches/breaks Joe DiMaggio's record, he says it shouldn't count. What do you think??

Didn't somebody else just make a run at that record over two seasons? Rollins maybe? I agree with the analyst by the way. Dimaggio did it one season, and that's how the record stands in the books. No need to complicate this split season records.

It reminds me of the "Tiger Slam". Very sticky situation to say the least...
