MLB 2009 Season

How many games did the Patriots win a row a couple years back? 23-24? How is that stated in the record book?

The Patriots winning streaks are complicated.

In 2003 the Pats started 2-2, but then won their final 12 regular season games and three postseason games, to finish the season on a 15 game winning streak. They won their first 6 games in '04 to extend the streak to 21 games (regular and postseason combined).

Also, from the last three games of '06 through the first two games of last season, the Pats won an NFL record 21 consecutive regular season games.

Nice BIG, FAT sweep in Atlanta by the Marlins....who are now a MLB best 8-1!:up I am very excited and optimistic.....

As well you should be! :up

I've been a closet Marlins fan since the beginning of last season.

Again, I picked them to win the NL wildcard, but in hindsight I may have UNDERRATED them!

WAY early....but THE main thing I am hoping for is for the starting rotation TO STAY HEALTHY.....IF....and in 162 game season, that is a GIANT IF....IF there are NO long stints in the DL, the Marlins WILL WIN THE EAST....yep, you heard it hear 1st!!

I think you stated what EVERY baseball fan wants, a HEALTHY pitching staff thru the year.
Yes it would be fun if every team had a healthy staff to work with, then we would see how things shake out ...
Then again, that's never gonna happen anyways.

THAT, a healthy pitching staff, is where GOOD OLE FASHION LUCK and good conditioning comes in.

I think this new contract will show he was out for the bucks and has no desire to be a real contributor to the team.

"I GOT MINE!!!"

Just another $$$$$ grabber.

If you put me in CC's shoes, I would have stayed in Milwaukee.

I know...HD loves him, but I think this new contract will show he was out for the bucks and has no desire to be a real contributor to the team.

Time will tell, but I disagree. He wants to win badly....in his early days with Cleveland his ultra-competitiveness would sometimes get the best of him and he'd lose his composure on the mound.

He SHOULD be in Cleveland, they would have a very good chance of being in the playoffs again, alot of the moves they made at the end of last year would not have been made had Sabathia stayed.

I've been watching a little of the Toronto-minnesota game on MLBN.

The Jays are ahead, 9-2 top of the 9th behind Roy Halladay.

Halladay will be 3-0 after 3 starts.

IF the Blue Jays fall out of the race, as expected by the end of July, Mr. Halladay will be the most sought after player in recent trade deadline memory.................JMO.

Toronto's hot start has proven one thing to me- Cito Gaston is still a damn good manager.

Your right that he accepted the highest contract offer, but I DO NOT think Carsten Charles will be content in just accepting the check. As Sky said, he's ultra competitve. He wants to win BAD. Did you see him pump his fist and scream into his glove in the 5th or 6th inning when he got out of that jam when it was still tied up at 1 run apiece? C.C. is a gamer and I'd take him back on my team any day.

What's done is done. We couldn't afford him, so Mark Shapiro got the most for him while he was still of value.

I know it's early, but the prospects we've gotten for him look great so far, especially Matt LaPorta and Michael Brantley. Both have a shot in being called up from Columbus later this year.
