Ok heres the deal i just got a new sony 1080p hd tv and i got satellite hooked up to it but now my satellite wont acquire the signal its been trying to aquire it for a day now anyone know how i can go about getting this to work? the satellite works just fine on my regular tv.

model Id:2700/3700/2800

not sure if thats what u need i dont know to much about technology type stuff, if thats not it tell me where to find which kind it is because i think dish 500 is just the type of channels i have but i could be wrong.

IF you have a old receiver like the 2700 model , you definately need to upgrade to a 622 hd dvr or a 211 hd receiver. Especially if you just bought a 1080p hdtv. Call Dish and see what they will let you have it for.

The 2700 has composite connections (RCA, yellow, red and white). Is that how you're connecting it? If so, switch the video source or input on the TV using TV/Video until you see the picture.

As for a 2700 feeding a 1080p, yes you need a 211 at minimun and the HD package to see HD channels on the 1080p and admire the quality of the picture. The 2700 is old and it's only for Standard Definition.

IS your receiver actually saying it sia cquiring signal? If so the problem is not the connectiosn to the TV---although everyone is right that you will only get SD from that.

The choice of TV should not affect your receiver. I am assuming that you are saying that all was fine with this receiver when some other TV was hooked up. Am i reading your post correctly?

If you are actually seeing the screen from the 2700 that says aquiring satellite then you have disconnected something.. Make sure your cables are in the right place. And make sure you didn't unplug your dish pro adpater if you have one..

You're right Geronimo, I missed the "sat acquiring signal" message. I just think he has the connections wrong. Make sure the RG6 cable that comes from the satellite dish goes into the back of the receiver (Satellite in).

I have everything hooked up correctly, because it works when i do it on a different tv :( and yes i can see the picture or what ever but its been on aquiring satellite signal for almost 30hours ..

Something doesn't add up here. If the receiver acquires the satellite with one TV, it won't lose it with another.

Did you move the receiver to set it up with the other TV? That means you're connecting to a different cable. Maybe the cable or connector is the problem.

what do you mean by "when i do it on a different tv". Do you actually hook up a different tv to the recevier you are having a problem with, or is the satellite working in a different room or something like that?

The type or size tv you are hooking up to a reciever has NOTHING to do with wether or not a satellite receiver works. Hell, the receiver works without ANY tv hooked to it. I'd guess that when you moved in the new tv and hooked it up, that something on the receiver came loose, wire pulled out of the connector a bit, ect. Something between the dish and the reciever is loose or disconnected.

ok i will try it one more time then prob have to get a tech here or something idk, no i havent changed rooms just tvs.

Are you changing the cable that goes to the SAT IN on the back of the receiver or is it the same cable hooked to the same connection going TO the receiver with either TV

Something here doesn't add up.. TV has nothing to do with Satellite. So if one tv works then the other will too. So it worked on your old TV.. When you put in your new tv you changed something other than the cable that goes from your receiver to your tv. Verify that the cable that comes in from the dish is hooked to the port marked Satellite IN. We know you have a right cable going to the tv because you can see the aquiring Signal screen.. I have gone to to many home where the customer had the dish cable plugged into the antenna in port cause that is where they think it belongs.. If all cables are in the right place, then something on your dish equipment has failed and it might just be a coincidence.. It does happen, but more than likely a cable has just come loose or put in the wrong place..

IF you are using a RF coax cable to your tv for the video and sound output to the ota antenna port of the hd tv, You will have to run a scan for available tv channels to even see the sat receiver. I assume if you are using coax that you would have it set to either channels 3 or 4. THat is if you are using rf coax cable - the worst connection for the tv.

The receiver can "acquire satellite signal" by simply being powered on and being connected to a satellite dish (and pointed properly). The TV it's connected to has NO relevance.

As a few people have said, "something doesn't add up". I know you keep saying it works on a different TV fine....

If you just changed tvs and did the connections RIGHT there should be no problem, try smart card reset, unplug for 30 seconds, and make sure the sat cable goes to SATELLITE IN.

And since I don't have any idea what kind of LNB and Dish you have and whether or not your 2700 needs a dish pro adpater, I will add to all this again.. Make sure if you have a Dish Pro Adapter that you haven't inadvertanly unpluged it from the wall plug during your TV Swap. This is exactly the error you receive if it is unplugged.. I don't know. I am just throwing out possibilities..

Maybe its his TV that says its trying to aquire signal. I think you have the change the settings on the Receiver for the output type of tv. Picture size option use 16x9 Cincematic. A regular TV is set at 4x3 Standard. :)
