Just got a new tv now satellite wont work :(

Something here doesn't add up.. TV has nothing to do with Satellite. So if one tv works then the other will too. So it worked on your old TV.. When you put in your new tv you changed something other than the cable that goes from your receiver to your tv. Verify that the cable that comes in from the dish is hooked to the port marked Satellite IN. We know you have a right cable going to the tv because you can see the aquiring Signal screen.. I have gone to to many home where the customer had the dish cable plugged into the antenna in port cause that is where they think it belongs.. If all cables are in the right place, then something on your dish equipment has failed and it might just be a coincidence.. It does happen, but more than likely a cable has just come loose or put in the wrong place..
This is the kindof crap that gets me nuts..I work for a DNS contractor . We get w/o's like this all the time ..9 out of 10 times it is billed as a non pay trouble call. The customers buy tv's and try to do the work themselves when they are clueless..The they want us to come out and bail them out free of charge...I really wish Dish would dig their heels in and start charging these people for these calls...We are professionals..My advice is this..When in doubt , let the rpos handle it..Now some of you may think that you should not have to hire someopne just to connect a new tv..Well with the advances in technology, unfortunately electronics are becoming less user friendly..

if you havn't fixed it yet find your imput selection button on your remote, (it might be called several things sonys go with video "something")
turn the TV on turn the receiver on use the TV remote to cycle through the diffrent imputs until you can see the correct screen.

try hooking up the component cables(red, blue, green with a white and red for sound) first until it gets a lock , then change your input to HDMI. I notice that when I'm installing the hr-20 sometimes this is the case.

Maybe its his TV that says its trying to aquire signal. I think you have the change the settings on the Receiver for the output type of tv. Picture size option use 16x9 Cincematic. A regular TV is set at 4x3 Standard. :)

Press 6-1-2

the only problem with that theory is that he says it is acquiring SATELLITE signal. But I suspect that something about what he is telling us is not right. No offense but if you simply moved the coax or composite cable from one set to another this is not what would happen.

Make sure the cable from the satellite is attached to the satellite in port on back of the turner, maybe somehow it got moved.

Try running a check switch and see if your receiver locks onto the satellites. Also make sure the cable connections are tight, you can also try unplugging the receiver and pluggin it back in after 30 seconds.
