My daughter doesnt really do much of anything on the imac, her interest in it faded fast so Im thinking of upgrading the processor to a G4.

Oh, you really do mean an old Mac, don't you! :)

Instead of buying a G4 accelerator for the iMac, you might want to look at a $200 dual G4 PowerMac with OS X 10.3.9 at http://www.MacofallTrades.com. They have cheaper units and more expensive units, but this looked like a nice compromise since it also includes the OS X you were asking about, at a price that would be comparable to a G4 card alone.:up

Kru83, I see your ECO Sig is now live. That WU finally completed? How many tries did it take?

Good news, it looks like the recruiting paid off! ECO reports we now have 51 Active Members, and Kakao Stats reports our newest members as cummingsje, mrschwarz, and Manager. :welcome to the Fold!

I have the console version installed and set as a service, so it should run even if I'm not logged in, correct?

I restart my computer when I leave for the day. Does this start over the work it already has done for the day?

Yes, it should stil run no problem.

Restarting yoru PC wil no start the work over, it may just start back up as he last save point (less than 1% of work lost)

Reason I ask is I was looking at the log file this morning and it looks like it started over. :(

Weird, can you post the part of it?

When you restart, it will say it shutdown, but should show it starting up again and picking up roughly where it left off.

how often do you have it set to save your work? I have not seen that happen to any of my systems

Edit:

Well, I missed this the first time, but I just noticed in your log it says

[10:08:13] - Working with standard loops on this execution.
[10:08:13] - Previous termination of core was improper.

What happens if you stop and start the service manually? This could have been just a one time fluke or something.

Neutron, what does your System Event Log show for 04:30 to 05:15 CDT? It's like your machine disappeared for half an hour. Assuming the 28 minute pattern of each percentage point completed, it could have croaked right at 05:06 CDT and not written the next checkpoint. Or your PC could have BSoD'd two seconds after FaH completed 49% and spent 28 minutes writing the core dump before rebooting at 05:07 CDT.

The two PCs I have Folding are both set up with the Console version running as a service. My son's Dell is constantly being turned on and off while my HP notebook is powered up pretty much 24-7 except for the drive to and from work. I have only lost current work when I've crossed up and run two instances with the same Machine ID (Not Good). Mine even recovered from a BSoD caused by a Belkin USB Serial adapter driver (I don't recommend it!) but I shut things down now if I know I'm going to be using the serial dongle, just in case.

Looks like we have some teams creeping up on us and one team moving up fast. Cmon eveyrone who hasn't joined, join the team if you can and help out Satguys and more importantly a good cause!

SatinKzo, the one team is part of Playstation's QA department ("where Quality is Assured...") and I bet that the units that they're putting through burn-in after repair are turned into Folding Zombies.;) The one guy in the team's #1 position has 45 or so CPUs to his name. Here's his Kakao Stats page: (http://kakaostats.com/up.php?u=920411) and I've included his point production from the last two months:

Looks like 2nd Foxbat on our team is folding again. Is this you Roland?
Yeah, it's my son's Dell. I never changed the username from "Foxbat@SatelliteGuys" to "Foxbat" when I changed it on the Mac. Maybe I should make it "Foxbat, Jr."?

I should break 100,000 pts shortly with SamPatterson following in a day or 2.

Sam did you decided to leave the F@H client on the PC you built over Memorial day weekend?

Edit:

WOOHOO, broke 100,000

BOOHOO, got into work today and I lost a bunch of work, seems 6 of my systems had problems with their WU and blew away the work and started over. *sigh*

Got in today, and we must have had a power failure, so my PC wasn't folding anymore (I have it autostart when I'm logged in). No permissions for me to start a service. Oh well.

Also, my Media server is busy going MPEG2->MP4 encoding for the PS3 streaming, so it hasn't had much time at all to fold. This Semperon 2600 dog takes 14 hours to encode 90 minutes of video! Yikes. (2048kbps AVC, 2 pass advanced encoding).

Welcome Cybok0. Always glad to have another on the team. What client you running on what hardware?

Jgantert, can you edit your registry? If so, you can set your system to autologon (assuming of course you are using windows)
