I need info on new hopper plus

2-- Same issue as possibility #1, but all Joey's are affected as well. Maybe the Joey's have linking problems and cant decide which Hopper runs the show in this scenario? This one probably does not have a solution, unless you are on a weird edge-case where you only need H3+'s and no Joey's.
There's no possible way to connect a third Hopper 3
For both of these problems, the solution would be what I suggested earlier: You would need to install a second dish. This would isolate the second Hopper3/+ in that scenario (assuming that combo is also on a separate internet connection) and/or allow for a completely separate third Hopper 3. Either option is technically possible, it is simply a matter of which (if either) Dish would be willing to allow on a single account. Worst-case scenario is that a separate account would be required for the additional Hopper.

3-- It is technically possible to do so no problem, and the business rule is arbitrary. Reasons I can think of...
The most likely reason I can think of is that Dish does not want power users hogging multiple Hopper+'s in a single installation, while other customers are still waiting to get their first (and only) Hopper+. These are new, and still in short supply. Once enough have been manufactured to meet the demand, then maybe the rules can be loosened up a little.

What today is the exact benefit of a Hopper + besides being able to get the Joey 4's? Hopeful the features of the Hopper + eventually grow but right now I don't see any functional need for it. As you mentioned once its reaches broad availability, Joey 4's will be available. A few days ago, I was successful in getting the dual Hopper 3 set up with the Joey 4. Had to go through a local Dish dealer. I got the Hopper +, but disconnected it due to issues at set up but never got to test the Hopper + when both Hopper 3's were active. Will try that set up to see if there are any conflicts but we will know today from Charlesrshell's install to see if it works or not. Thanks!
Right now with the HDR always on issue and the fact that it doesn't decode Dolby Vision or several audio codecs, it's actually one of the worst Android TV streaming boxes on the market. The Hopper Plus/Hopper 3 combo is not a good unit to be running into a high end AVR and out to a high end TV at the moment.

For the third Hopper you are right on the money, however for my scenario the second dish is unnecessary. Reason being is that the DPH42 isolates MoCA connections, so as long as you use Solo Hubs as Dish recommends/authorizes and dont create a brige in any way between the two H3’s then you end up with two isolated MoCA networks, from there you would just need either two internet connections or two partitions of the same connection using subnets. Would kind of suck to not be able to see the other Hopper in this case, which is a huge dealbreaker to me that likes to have all of the DVR recordings from both boxes available from anywhere in the house.

Right now, the only real benefit is for the average TV viewer who doesn’t go through the process of calibrating their TVs looking for the best picture available to be able to stream on the same device that they record and watch TV.

People like most of us on here that are more of a high end user, that demand the best performance on the best equipment with the best results are not going to see the Hopper Plus as something to be overly excited about.

And the truth is anybody that falls into this latter category already has a way to do all of the things that the Plus does, but at the level that we demand.

You're absolutely correct. I would have never gone this route if Dish didn't make my 4K Joeys regular Joeys.
And that is completely justified. I never understood the 4K Joey, charging people $50 for it and then continuing to push it out there all these years plan it was never completely functional.

Thank you! I think this is not going to go anywhere. Folks who know are just going to disconnect the Hopper plus to get the Joey 4's until there is enough Joey 4 supplies. This product of Hopper plus will force subscribers to keep finding a way to just get 2 Hopper 3's. My honest opinon.

But the Joey 4s aren't any better either.

I totally disagree, it's not only going to keep going, but it's also going to keep growing. 99% of the people out there don't know the difference between Joeys and most don't even know what joey is unless they already have a Hopper. Your perspective is not that of the people I typically deal with. They are typically older and don't put time into researching things like differences in receivers, Operating systems, etc. And Dish is infamous for setting customers up with more than they need. Like the 70 yr old Widow who doesn't record getting a 1 room, Hopper 3....

I agree with you on the demographics but I think as an installer you know as well that folks in the know will disconnect the Hopper + if its not giving any benefit to them. I think its going to keep going until the Hopper + is stable and I think you would agree with me that the Hopper + is not stable or folks are accepting it since they don't know the difference. Thanks!

Frankly, I'd be more apt to make sure a Hopper+ install is the right fit. If it's too much technology - like the 70 yr old with the Hopper 3 or redundant - like it would be for me - who streams 155% of the content I watch, there's no point in even installing it in the first place and I'd modify the Work Order. I do the same thing with Hughesnet installs if the customer is a gamer, streamer or heavy internet user

For those who have been wanting the new Joey 4's specifically for 4K HDR content, I found this on the other forum, posted by a member there named Mrkroe:

"I had the Hopper Plus and two Joey 4s installed this week. It's been nothing but one glitch after another. Should have waited a year until they beta tested these. The Hopper Plus may or may not display the home screen when you turn it on. The tech figured out a workaround is to press Channel Up on the remote to get live TV to work when you turn it on. 4K HDR content does not display on the new Joeys. An error message comes on saying it can't display 4k content. Customer support has little to no information and said the info they were given says the new Joeys don't support 4k and the have no fix. Twitter CS said they sent some reports to Tech Ops but it will be months before any fixes are included in a software update."

Probably need to let more than one anecdote define the experience. I've been with Hopper + and Joey 4s for about a week now, and it's all good on my end. No glitches so far for me on any of the units. No need to Channel Up as the Home screen comes up each time. The 4K on the Joeys on channel 540 is accurate- there is an error message. But 4K content on DISH is so rare, that in the odd case a football game is on Channel 540, I'll watch it on the main TV. This would be on my very, very minor list of "glitches". My 4K viewing is almost entirely on the streaming services. Overall, I'm a fan on these upgrades. I'll continue to report any issues.

That is the one part of the anecdote that I highlighted. That was the primary complaint about the old 4K Joeys: that they no longer work for these 4K events. People were wanting to get the new Joey 4's to replace their 4K Joeys, specifically to get those channel 540 special events back. Now, it turns out that even the new Joeys do not work properly for those, and may not do so for several months, if ever. Forewarned is forearmed.
